My opinion is just that, mine. I don’t expect everyone to agree with me and that’s fine because everybody is entitled to their own view on things.
I understand some women can go through some imbalances after given birth, and I would never deny anybody the medical attention that they need, but in some cases, it’s used as a crutch to get away with murder.
We have two cases presently in the public eye and in the courts and in my opinion is both women are guilty of murder and should be put into prison.

The circumstances may be quite different. If one lady was suffering from postpartum conditions or had another type of mental sickness that deserves investigation. I do not think it is easy to fake mental illness. It may be different in the States. Over here, one of the principles for murder to be proven is intention. We dont have "degrees" of murder. Murder has one sentence only, life imprisonment. Lifers usually have a minimum sentence which varies from case to case. Release at the end is not certain and even if people are released they may be recalled to serve the remainder of their sentence. And we dont have capital punishment.

There has to be a reason with evidence to introduce such a defence, not just "because it can". If you have statutory visits to mothers then those conditions will be seen.

Everyone also thinks they are experts because they "follow" the case.
If your not on the jury or know the individuals we really don't know shit.
Unfortunately lawyers have used the mental illness tactic to many times.
I could never be on one of these juries. I can never imagine killing a child. In my mind you would be guilty. Prove me wrong beyond the reasonable doubt.

In a case of a child’s death, I don’t think I could ever be openminded on the guilt or innocence especially when the evidence is there and you have a full confession. How can you go to court after telling the police yes I did it and then tell the judge no I didn’t or I didn’t mean to or I didn’t know I did. Nobody can read the truth from another person‘s mind so no, I could never be objective in a child murder trial.

What I wrote, Page, was just an opinion - and from a different legal system although we share an adversarial system. We dont, though, have lawyers in the way you have. There are solicitors and in Court people usually have representation from a barrister. There are specific pathways over here to confine a woman to a special psychiatric hospital. As long as justice is served for the child and the mother.
