By "they" I take it that he is referring to the "liberals in Washington" he mentioned in his remarks. He's absolutely right of course, but you're in trouble if you say it.

The wise thing for traditional minded Americans to do in the circumstances you find yourselves in at the present time is just play your cards close to your chest, not to vocalise your concerns but bide your time and vote accordingly at elections.
