Too subjective

There is no answer to this. Prolly the person that did more to shape modern music as we know it was Les Paul, if you count all the inventions he gave modern electric music and the recording industry.

He was both. And without the solid body guitar, muti-track recording, and all the other things he contributed rock and roll as we know it wouldnt exist. He was also one of the greatest guitarists to ever live.
 
I know the Beatles are going ot win a poll, but I think if you take into account not only the songs Dylan sang himself but the songs he wrote for others there isn't a musician on that list who has equalled his effect in music.
 
I say the Stones.

Get over it, you are old enough to know better and you are plenty rich. Pass some of the wealth off to those who don't have it and retire, arseholes.
 
My favorite is Stevie Wonder. I'm going to build a temple to him and start a religion someday. Anybody want make donations??
