Angel's Little Patch of Heaven

Well then... we should definitely try to get to the Genesis of this problem. Don't you think?

Darnit, HF! You simply HAVE to let me win one of these... In my patch of all places...

*pouts prettily*

Awwwww. I'm sorry. I figured you had at least one Job left, or even a Host of ideas to work with. My apologies. *Bowing gracefully as I withdraw from the field of battle, conceding victory to the fair Angel*

*considers engaging in a prolonged battle of wits, but knows she had too few hours of sleep to come close to winning without his generous retreat*

Unexpected disappearance...

To my fantabulous collaborators -

Sorry for the disappearing act. This past weekend was the culmination of a year's worth of dance lessons/practices for my kids and was, by far, the most stressful recital extravaganza yet.

It was bad enough we had a week's worth of daily 2-4 hr practices the week before, but then the kids get to pretty much spend the weekend at the venue of choice doing Broadway-like dress rehearsals and actual shows. I had been hoping to escape dance mom duties this year and only be on call for costume assistance.

Alas, not only did they need my help with costume corrections, makeup/hair lessons, and last minute touch ups on some of the scenery, but I also got to schlep scenery around in the dark (apparently I'm a ninja in training), was a stand in for a costume dummy (I lost count of the number of times I was stuck with a pin) AND got asked to be a "room mom" for a room full of middle school prima donnas (10-14 year olds) and 5-6 year olds (not a combination I would ever recommend them putting together in the future). Thankfully I managed to fend off their request to don a Mrs Potts costume for a Beauty & The Beast segment, but it was close.... *still am having nightmares of that showing up on YouTube*

Then insert work drama with my office nemesis and I'm a bit... Tired? Off? *shrug* I need another day or so to recover and find my inner ho again.

Thanks for your continued patience,
Angel

*dances around in her pretty new belt*

Will be Level 3 by August.....

*strikes a pose and collapses onto a nearby chair with an acute case of the giggles*

Thanks guys!

After three hours of yard work, my muscles are doubly sore now.

*contemplates a lobster hot worthy bath*

*smiles broadly*

Thanks, sweetie! Technically the next round is a snap... If I manage not to fall on my ass when I do the jumping front snap kick.

Jump front snap kicks are... well.. a snap. Key is just to know your limits on it, and make sure you are stretched well. I blew a hamstring doing once, but it was a bad ass kick, broke two boards about a foot above my head... took everything I had not o fall on my ass and cry like a baby... lol

Well that's.... Encouraging.... ;)

It didn't help my confidence any when they had us do some "practice" kicks after graduation today and I didn't come even close to hitting the board. Of course they failed to take into account the height differential of me and the guy in front of me (cuz 5 ft and 6 ft are soooo close you know).

Eh, you can do it... just lots of stretching. The key to your height in the kick is all in the jump. Too many people worry about the kick... that is the easy part... if you miss the jump, you miss the kick. Get a good launch, and make sure your kick is chambered as you are in the air... then the kick is easy. Start low and slow... use someone with a small target in their hand to practice. Just move it up every time you hit a few in a row until you get to that point you are not consistent. Using a small target makes hitting the board easier down the road :)

Understood, and they definitely were working on the jump aspect. Made us go around the room like we were the silly Mario Brothers to ensure we were driving up with our knee, etc.

Thank God no one was filming that!

Wooties to the Netherlands for their win, although I wish the winning goal wasn't so questionable. Tying score was worth wearing my drink though...

LOL @ wearing your drink, but YES ... well done to the NL!
I hope you don't mind me gatecrashing your thread to join your celebrations!

*Hugs*

Oops, apparently I wasn't watching where I was posting as I thought I was actually in the Inn in the first place, but all are welcome to my little patch at any time.

Not only did I end up wearing my drink, but ended up with half my brother's as well. My mom was outside with the kids and had to come in and see what all the yelling was about. Apparently we were a little loud with the tying goal. *big grin* But considering the household of boys my parents raised (plus me), she's thankfully used to the noise... and the spills.

And it gave my kids a chance to remind Mom why we shouldn't have drinks in the family room...
