I sit here all cool and dry in my hotel room, looking out the window at all the cars trying to navigate the street below. It is raining. Actually, it's like someone turned on the tap in the sink, that's how hard the water is coming down. The street out front is filled with water over the curbs and across the sidewalks. The hotel parking lot is about a two feet higher than the street so it is high and almost dry. The retention ponds (there are two) are almost full.

And still people are trying to drive down the water filled street. Little cars, those low to the ground to begin with, are having the hardest time. Some of the four wheel drive monster trucks just zoom by, swapping those little cars in their wake.

...and the rain isn't supposed to stop until midnight.

And it's only April here in Houston. Just think what it will be like when hurricane season begins!

We here in So Cal were supposed to have a dry winter, but it's been a bit rainier than was expected.

Right now, we are in temps that remind me of Spring in the midwest-- NOT Spring in California. I gotta hit up goodwill for some extra sweatshirts!

It's actually been quite nice here in Houston. They have been a little behind in the rain fall department, but the temps have all been below normal for this time of year. Quite pleasant really.

In the past three months it has never rained this hard for as long as it has. I think after today the rain deficit will be wiped out.

Zeb, This is only light to moderate showers. Wait until it really rains. :D

Start worrying when you can't see the curbs or the parking lot. Then you have to use road signs to tell where the roads actually are.

The last flood in Houston had 60 percent of the freeways under water. Some deep enough to cover semi trucks.

Then I guess I'll go park on 290 HOV as it's about 100 feet in the air. :D

I couldn't make it to work yesterday because the roads were too flooded and my car is way low to the ground. I tried to push through but when it started to slosh up onto my hood I said "fuck this" and called in.

Hopefully today will be better.
