Trump has been crafting an Executive Order to ‘censor the Internet’.

What is a little authoritarian rule among friends? Government knows best, right?

He certainly has delusions.
He thinks the Mexicans are the pentagon,
He thinks he can tax the Chinese.
He thinks if he prefixes and suffixes a statement with the words "believe me" the statement becomes the truth.
Now he thinks he can control freedom of speech

Oh how I wish we had a leader who is such a stable genius.

don't forget he said he'd make canada pay for the wall - guess that came after realising mexico wasn't about to and he had to spout SOMETHING.

and there's that little thing his fans probably find adorable... he seems unable to pronounce 'origins' and repeatedly says 'oranges'. makes me wonder what he has on his mind, bless.

News from the orifice

I would like to read the details of this executive order. What are the facts? No facts? Just more "news" from the orifice.

One would think the sycophants would take a day off and recognize the multiple problems with this.

But nope! Can't speak ill of dear leader!

Those whom would censor the internet are decrying that the wrong faction might...

So you're saying that private businesses like Facebook, Twitter etc should not control their companies but that the government should control the net.

Christ I'm grateful I'm not your level of stupid.

The politics of schadenfreude on display.

Before you brand others as stupid, you should learn to read.

What an old-fashioned notion!

No shit.

The left wing sites and bloggers are going ape shit telling their readers what the "leaked" draft (allegedly in CNN's possession) will do. But nowhere can I find a copy of the draft. Why is that?

Like authoritarianism has ever been a big deal for you Mr.NetNeutrality :D

And making platforms and publishers follow their rules accordingly is hardly censorship.

No....what Trump is trying to do is make private businesses like Facebook, Twitter etc. decide if they are platforms or publishers and follow their regulations accordingly.

Just like everyone else.

Were you not a big supporter of net neutrality too??? Right, you have no room to talk, your team with your support opened the door to government control over the internet. You reap what you sow sister.

No shit.

Because then we could read what it actually said and the pro-government control over the internet (except when the other side does it) hypocrites like BND and Adrina would look even worse than they already do.

They want net neutrality, but they don't want tech companies to have to follow the same rules as everyone else.

They support AOC, E. Warren, B. Sanders and all the other socialist who want totalitarian government control over fuckin' everything....but when Trump wants to make everyone follow the rules THEY set up they cry "But mah private bidnizz" as if they've been libertarian Ron Paul voters all along.

BND and Adrina need to pick a fucking side already.

Many other progressives here are just as fucking confused.....support and defend socialist pols, call anyone who doesn't support everything "the squad" says a white supremacist, call for abolishing our immigration enforcement, call border security Nazism, but when called open borders socialist themselves they deny supporting anything the "progressive" left supports but also won't explicitly condemn it.

LOL......shit or get the fuck off the pot lefties, can't be liberal and a socialist in the same breath, gotta pick one. :)

And suddenly, just like that, it's okay to govern by executive order and you idiots are open to trusting the government.

Can't make this shit up.

Enforcing already existing laws isn't governing by EO.

The right tried to keep the government out of the internet, you and BND screeched about how horrible that was and how it was racist and sexist and Nazism to let evil corporations manage their own bidnizzez. Freedom is fascism!!!!

Now you want to cry fowl because a political power you don't like is enforcing rules YOU made and then fought tooth and nail to bring to the table??

Lay down and enjoy that bed you helped make Ms. NetNeutrality.

Enjoy every bit of it and remember that it was team (D) and the leftist who fought hard for the US Federal government to get involved and start regulating the internet. :D Good job comrades.

They do and they are internationally condemned for doing it, including by the US.

Only the Nazi half of the US who supports freedom of commerce, speech and association, the "progressives" have been huge fans of Chinese social policy for a while now.

You swerved into a truth there BotB. Are they publishers exercising editorial prerogatives concerning content, or are they platforms for free speech and discussion? They cannot, as they situationally claim, be both.

If they are platforms for discussion then they cannot censor speech, even politically provocative speech. Nor can they censor content that others may find offensive.

If they are in effect publishers they can do so up to a point but in doing so may open themselves up to discrimination actions.

This is all uncharted territory that we're sailing into.

I use google a lot because ya know, they're fast and easy. Like my ex wife.
However that's for just regular everyday searches of regular everyday shit on my regular everyday machine with regular everyday accounts.
For privacy and more accurate searches of anything google may not like I use DuckDuckGo. Everyone should. Imagine the internet where everyone suddenly cared about search results and privacy.

Considering these laws are already in place I don't think it's that uncharted just because it's digital.

Trump forcing them to stop playing fuck fuck games and decide what they are and thus which regulations they have to follow is him simply doing his job...enforcing the law.

The fact that all the pro-regulation, net neutrality supporters of leftist who want regulations for all the things are suddenly libertarian when THEY are no longer getting to regulate/enforce just shows their lack of conviction in their belief system.
