She shall remain nameless and she doesn't even post here or live near me any more.

This woman- she used to work with me. Like myself, she marched to the beat of a different drummer. I admire her so much. When she retired the faculty wanted to throw a party for her and she refused to attend because she didn't want to waste time on insincerity, And she never went to parties for other people she could give a shit about.

She was 65 and she took evening classes like welding just because she wanted to learn. She was 65 and we used to spend time just talking about things and people and stuff we did every day and why we did it.

And to look at her? At her age, she is still a very beautiful woman to see. I can imagine that when she was younger, many men turned their heads to see her.

You know what I think of when I think of her? This is what I think:

Your life is a very, very special thing. Refuse to be anything other than who you are. Do not hide the things that make you beautiful because they inspire the rest of us.

I don't pray much- I more or less make commitments to myself to be whatever my idea of the best I can be is. I fall short, but I try,

Every once in a while in a lifetime you meet someone that touches you in a place that few people do.

This woman is one of them.

Meanwhile, today I bought some new sneakers and was condescended by shoe salesman whose plasicity was as polished as rebellion is sharp.

Idiots rule.

you rock. I am constantly amazed by your intuitive nature and sensitive spirit.

you're a beautiful soul, riffy.

I knew a man like that once.

He was eighty and went sky diving on his eighty first birthday.

Most people would have called him crotchety, but he wa a wonderful man with an apetite for life and honesty.

I miss him as much as I miss my grandfathers.

Wow, riff. It's just hard to find the right words to reply. This is just one more example of why I enjoy reading your posts, and I'm glad you hang around here.

riff, I think one could spend their life helping others to see themselves this way. It would be noble. I think even more difficult, though, is to truly accept oneself with this level of openness.

Riff I don't think we're ever met

but I wanted to compliment you on your perception and open-mindedness. Some people are simply so strong and beautiful in their souls that it just shines out and touches those who are observant enough to see past the surface. Sounds like you found one of them, and it sounds to me as if maybe she did too. It felt good to read what you wrote. Thank you.

I know what you've been doing!! LoL...and it looks good on you hun. Spirituality is wonderful and you shine.

You are truly amazing...too good to be true.

Your thoughts touch so deep and reminded me of something important tonight. Thanks hun.

If I've never said it before, I'm really glad you're a techer Riff.

Gives me hope.

I know about finding a kindred spirt in another person. I met a woman the same age as me in the late 1990s. She was a student in one of my art classes. We hit it off straight away. We were both so relaxed around each other and knew what the others brain and soul were thinking....

She only lived in New Zealand for 18 months for her husbands work and then went back to live in Aussie. I miss her so much, she awakened in me the spirt that allowed me to believe in myself to go write my books and believe that I could do it along the way...

I miss the woman dearly and know we could have easly become lovers if she had not had to move back to Aussie. I dedicated a chapter in my second book to her and below is what I wrote for that chapter dedication.....

Sometimes a breeze hovers for a while, then flies away and you know it contained something special. I named mine "Kangaroar".

Riff, that is a cool story. I have a friend like that as well. She is 72 years old and I rspect her tremendously. She is a professional artist and is very well known in the midwest. She has been my mentor for about 10 years. I see her once a week at a minimum. Sometimes we paint sometimes we just talk about art or politics or whatever trips our trigger. She is the coolest woman i have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I am thankful that there are special people who touch our lives like this.

Thanks for sharing. These are the special people that everyone has met at one time or another but don't necessarily acknowledge the way they have touched us. Most times there is no need.

We carry the memories silently in our memory boxes and use them on the rainy days when they are most needed.
