I appreciated the posts to my birthday thread and I am sure that other people who have been honoured by a birthday thread feel the same.

However I thought of one present that might be appropriate for those celebrating their birthdays in future.

As well as posting to a birthday thread, how about reading one of the celebrant's older stories and poems and giving feedback or a PC as a birthday gift? 'Gifts' from anonymous might not be welcome, but thoughtful comments from fellow AH members would be.

Anyone else have any ideas of ways to make an AH member's birthday special?

And yes, I did appreciate the hugs, kisses and messages.

Og

That's a great idea! :cathappy:

Edited to add: For your birthday Og, Pleasure Dome has been RCV'd... :D

I think the idea of reading and commenting on one of the birthday persons new or old submissions is a great idea!

Nice. It would be great to read some PCs on a day when most of the attention will be given to Halloween theme stories. Yes, that's right. I was a Halloween baby. :D

Great idea, Og.

[Threadjack]Two thoughts came to mind on this:
1) How did this work with your upbringing? You had religious parents, right? Did they allow you to celebrate Halloween?
2) I'm sure you enjoy and revel in this stroke of luck way too much, don't ya? ;)

My anniversary is on Halloween. When my husband and I were hashing out getting married, there were things we agreed on and things we didn't, but one thing, to us, was a no brainer: the date. Halloween. Haven't ever regretting that decision although it does mean that we tend to miss the Halloween parties as we go out for a celebratory dinner.[/Threadjack]

So, if everyone reads and comments on assorted stories for the birthday boy/girl/other, and the recipient reprocates as a sort of "thank you" card, does that mean everyone will be reading everything at some point in the year?

I think that's a doable idea...as long as not too many prolific types are born on the same day ;)

My daughter's birthday is on Halloween, also. :D

I think it's a wonderful idea, Og! Heading out now, but I'll leave a gift for you when I get back.

I like that idea alot....
I would add
maybe as a gift... write a story for that birthday person for publication on Lit....
just another idea
I will get to one of your stories today Og.... trying to get around bowling green at the moment

Cool choice of a wedding date. :D

1. Yes, they were rather religious. And no, they didn't let me celebrate Halloween past the age of 6. That's when they stopped it, after one night of trick or treating. They used my birthday as another excuse NOT to celebrate Halloween, in fact. Though I still had fun, more than I would if I had NOT been born on that night. Then it would have just been another night, I suspect.
2. And naturally. The idea of more superstitious people being a little scared of me did have its appeal. :D

Capital idea Ogg.....

Though I still like the idea of dancing girls and birthday boobies.

Just in case any one was wondering.

Cool. Though probably not good for her blood sugar. All of that candy, plus cake..... ;)

Ogg, I think that is a brilliant idea. Brilliant!

(Why do I suddenly want a Guinness?)

I say lets do it on old stories...at least I will try to do so...It is always nice to get a new comment on an older piece...

You are SO easily manipulated. That worked like a charm. :D
