Electrically powered watercraft have been around a long time.
Most early subs were diesel/electric hybrids. Diesel to run on the surface and charge the batteries, then electric power when submerged.
They seemed to work okay as long as seawater was kept away from the batteries. H2S is bad for your health.

Well, I kill squirrel on a regular basis, but the local rednecks did away with the moose a long, long time ago...
They have tried to reintroduce the Wapiti though.
Then they figured out that wolves really do serve a useful purpose,
so now,
we have to bring them back too...
