I was referring strictly to the likes of RobDownSouth (aka Queertag et al), Emerson and those who giggle at and endorse their white trash-y posts.
You know well (as I said several times) that I post here because I'm an americanophile so to speak, among other things.

Yea those are pretty much entirely suburbanite liburhuls. Most of whom have never worked outside long enough to get a red neck.

That tells me you don't know what American exceptionalism actually is....which is cool, most people who toss that term around don't. It has nothing to do with how up their own ass an American is about the USA.

Generally speaking, 'redneck' just means someone who works outside. This makes a person something the cubicle dwelling suburbanite liburhul considers well beneath them if not completely sub human.

After all they have degrees, and a cubicle!!

When I use the term redneck, I don't refer to choice of occupation or setting (rural versus large town).. And neither do my family or friends.


I came across individuals who lived in rural places and didn't have a formal education, yet they had a certain integrity and clean outlook on life and had interests that were more sophisticated or spiritual, so to speak. By the same token, I came across people with similar demographics, who were rednecks.
And same goes for 'suburbanites'.

You can put an expensive suit on a goat and pump him with all sorts of formal classes. But that can't change the gutterr-ish character that they came to develop as they grew up so in the end, a goat is still a goat.

Like their preoccupations and petty and vulgar things that they do
show that in the end, despite their fluent style or pretenses to be high and mighty, R, E etal are still goats; the white trash type.

It looks like different people have different interpretations of the term

I remember seeing a similar controversy while watching one of the episodes of "Shark Tank".
One of the millionaires-hosts explained that in his opinion, the "redneck" type is the sort of individual whose idea of fun or entertainment is sitting on the porch, drinking beer and catching bugs.
