Not a single one of my students has even the slightest idea of my political beliefs. I used to live in countries that have very serious bans on blasphemy, so in the real world I really am quite good at keeping my damned opinions (hehe) to myself.

The Russian Revolution was a terribly wrong turn for the Left. It was not a democratic revolution, pitting the majority against a small, wealthy minority. It was not even what Karl Marx predicted and wanted.

It was a coup by a small minority of well organized political fanatics.

I have encountered that assertion before, but I am not sure it can be verified. I wish the American Revolution never happened. It left the American Indians and slaves with no one to appeal to over the heads of the white settlers who were oppressing them.
