American cops

You're going to get arseholes in every force.

But the arsehole lost his job, and the victim received a full apology. A statement was made about how using excessive force is wrong.

I'm not saying that our system is perfect, that it's always dealt with properly, because it's not. But it can be! And, in this case, it was.

I don't know where it went off the rails in the USA, but a police officer should be the protector-resource-servant of citizens and society.

If there were a poll, most of us would likely answer that we didn't want a police officer in our family, lives or living next door.

I'm not trying to minimize in any way the racism and murders of Blacks, that we saw on TV.

But in a related vein: over here I came across good cops, but also across a couple of a specimens that I imagine would happily beat a poor individual or a minority to the pulp, if they could get away with it.

. A neighbor of mine, who's a liaison nurse told me "most cops are good people or plain folks, but for others it was the choice"either join a gang, or become a cop." He said that one of the cops was regularly beating the sh.. out of his wife, and the boys' club knew but nobody was doing anything about it.

Everybody knows the statistics that the highest % of psychopaths are among lawyers, surgeons, cops, journalists and politicians.

While the first two manage to channel their traits into socially useful ways, it's kinda scary that our lives are ruled and decided by the latter 3.

There have always been bad cops. But, where it "went off the rails" was in the 1960's when "the man" was seen as the oppressor to the Love Generation's good times. At that point, the police stood between the people and their quest for getting high and was thusly promoted as the bad guy.

Now it's just nit picking in an effort to paint all cops with the same tarred brush.
