I saw your role playing thread based on the Thomas Covenant series. What a kick it was to read all those familiar names again. I must have read both those trilogies three times (though too long ago for me to recall enough detail to play your game well). And I must have turned a hundred people onto those books through the years.

I recall reading the second trilogy, and finishing book two before book three came out. What an agonizing wait that was.

And I didn't think any fantasy adventure story could possibly be more depressing than the first trilogy, until I read the second. What a great, sad, exhilirating read.

Just wanted to say thanks for the memories and all that, good luck with your thread.

Thank you, those books have to be replaced at my house about every three years. I have read and read them. Glad someone liked the thread, no one in the ORP section did, as it sinks lower and lower. LOL

I read the first book before any of the others were published. I never read the second trilogy, though.

The second trilogy is much broader in scope and story, if you can imagine such a thing. The pain is greater, but the payoff is excellent.

I loved the creature that couldn't be defeated by anyone but Thomas and his white gold, who then promised to come anytime Thomas called. About 300 pages later, after you've forgotten all about the creature, Thomas is halfway around the world, facing a dire situation, and speaks one word -- the creature's name. Very cool.
