Am I the only one on this board...

I've written some, but that doesn't erase the facts

as someone who's posted 3 stories, I can say that if you are looking for feedback, you're better sending them to "friends" here at Lit, rather than submitting them. Because people don't tend to vote or send feedback. Then again, I may just be a terrible writer of stories too. I think I've recieved MAYBE 5 feedbacks.

It gets very disoucraging, because you can get to feeling like no one cares if I ever write again, or not. Granted there are a lot of stories submitted every day, but when your story get's 5000 views the first week, and only 2 feedbacks, and votes. Where your motivation to continue?

P.S. I'm NOT bitter, just wondering...

WHAT? Well...I am surprised. I have seen real good posts from you all and you don't post here at lit? Geez.:)

Well, if you don't want to I guess you don't have to, but I would be interested in what you would write...

dixon you need to start a thread for over used lit phrases because someone soon is going to say "we have stories here ?" :)

Ok, at least I'm not alone in not having submitted anything! :)

Curious~ I've been trying to write some erotic story, but it's just not working. I could probably post some poem though...

Lobito ~ Yes, I have heard many complaints about not getting any feedback. I guess I have to hang my head in shame myself as I never send feedback. Sorry. :(

LP69, no need to appologize, just try to start giving "us" feedback.

ON a side note, if people think that writing stories is an easy thing, they've got another thing coming.

The first feedback that I got asked me to have a 3rd part of a story. I even put at the end of the second part that it was the END of the story, and nothing more would be written. Being creative doesn't happen all the time. Half of the stories I've written were written years ago, and just touched up, then submitted. I haven't had the "fire inside" to write in months.

I have ideas all teh time, and I write them down, but usually that's as far as it goes...

I have one poem, and...well quite a few stories posted here. They are not for everybody. I am not what one would call a writer. I have written some stories and liked doing it. discovered this late in life (44) and one year later still love writing. What has worked for me is to imagine I am one of the characters, then write. I take several shots in several different views before I put it all together. Sometimes I don't feel like writing and I just cruise, but eventually I get back into synch and write some more.

Just me. Everybody has their own reasons and passions. give it a try. You will get some response good or bad. Each story I write I get differing responses and it can get intense from time to time. Keep yourself seperate from them. Realize it is probably your story line and characters that evoked those repsonses. Give a whirl, you may be surprised.:D

Why would you place all the value on what other people think? I write, but I write for myself, to arouse myself. I love feedback when I get it, and I do check my stats (votes, number of reads, etc) every once and awhile. It's not about what other people think (although of course I link my stories in my sig line, and I do respond to feedback and am very respectful of people who take the time to write it) but about my enjoyment of writing.

It also depends on what you write. I wrote one story featuring incest, and predictably it has about 3 times as many votes and views as my other stories. My sci-fi stuff, not as much. And of course my 5th chapter of one story has exponentially fewer fews and votes than my first chapter. A final thought...you can promote yourself by linking your story in your sig line. I have often used peoples links because I like their style on the gb or the story idea thread or some such.

Oh, writing is not as easy as one may think. Trust me, I know! You may brim with ideas, but it's actually putting them to paper that's the hard part. I can become so technical at times. The best is of course when it all flows by itself... :)

because d_n, why submit a sotry, if you didn't want others to read it, and have the opportunity to say "hey that's great!", or "damn you really suck" .

Writing for ones self isn't for ME, it may work or others, but not for me. If I'm going to write to arouse myself, then that seems a bit narsacisstic (sp?). Why submit something you write, "just for you"?

After spending all my time on the boards...I don't have time to write anymore. Used to...never submitted any stories or poems to Lit. Have a half dozen started but never finished stories.

Actually lately...I have been so busy. That I must admit that I haven't even read any stories from here. Trying to capture my real life again...getting back into photography and my other interests that I lost along the way.
