Submitted a story like 4 days ago and its still showing pending? Through it was an auto post if I kept things simple? Oh hi, I'm Jack by the way...long time reader, first time story submission.

Hi Jack,

Lately is is taking around 4-5 days for a story to go through. Keep in mind first time submissions can take a little extra time as well.

It should be up in a couple of days and whatever you do don't click on pending. That will send you back to the nd off the line.

Hi Jack. Welcome, and be patient. Lovecraft is right -- it's been taking even closer to seven days sometimes, so at four days, you may still be two-three days from posting.

Patience is a virtue. ;)

No, no autoposts here at Lit, stories are generally checked over--especially from brand new authors.

Just curious... Who checks them over? Does one person read every story?

Only one editor checks them over, Laurel. Obviously, with over 60 to clear a day, every day of the year, she doesn't read every word. Beyond that, there's no way to know how much she's able to read/scan.

Takes about 5 days to get mine posted so it will, just be patient. Only thing is that if you write something with multiple parts you might want to pre write one ahead so people don't wait so long!

Good advice. Probably can use the rest to build up to the next phase of complaint--after the story has posted and you want to can't understand why it isn't received better or doesn't have more favorable comments and votes on it than anyone else's story has--or why no one told you--and you didn't notice--that Loving Wives is a snakepit.

I think Laurel needs help...

I posted my story last Sunday...this is Saturday and it's still in, "pending."
The last time I submitted my story here and on SOL at the same time and had some guy telling the readers here what happened because he'd already read it on SOL, so this time I waited until Tuesday to submit to SOL thinking they would only be one chapter ahead. As it was, the entire story has alread finished on SOL again and it hasn't even started running on here yet.
She should get someone to help her; 7 or 8 days is too long to have a story sitting in queue like that; at least in my opinion.

I've just submitted my first story in seven years into Loving Wives. It's not even a sharing wife story, it's a cheating one. I've been a reader in the intervening time so am aware of what I'm letting myself in for, in fact I'm almost looking forward to the flaming - I live in chilly (yes, even in August) England, so it might warm me up. :)

Yes, that's a Literotica Board game--posting a story to Loving Wives with the intent to enflame and then posting a complaint to the Board when it's flamed. :D

As the others above have said, it's generally 4 days... and 5 days if the count goes through a Sunday, so I've noticed. I can remember when it was 7-8 days, so 4-5 is not bad.

Patience

I guess patience is the key then.

I have one chapter up and another pending too. Got to say that I thought I was doing something wrong too as I had one pending for 7 days before I deleted and re-submitted.

Not meant as a criticism, before someone gets their gander up :)

Just for us "newbies" the 72 hour thing that is stated on the site seems a tad optimistic....

This is a fantastic site mind LOL.....slow but fantastic!

Better than rejected

You don't need to worry as long as it says pending. When it says rejected is the time to worry. My first submission was rejected twice before I figured out what was wrong with it. Be patient, hope for the best, and keep writing and posting!

The 72 hour thing is not so much optimistic as outdated.

Three years ago when I started here 3 days was the standard (except for my first which took 5 days as I was new) In fact 3 days was so regular I had a routine of submitting my stories every Tuesday night to get a Friday release.

But there are more stories being submitted now and that time frame-although I still get one here and there at 3-is no longer consistent. I would say that for this year my average is 4/5

My latest 2 chapters were submitted a day apart and took 5 days each before being posted. Contests will make it a bit longer sometimes, as it all depends on the number of submissions Laurel has to go through.

When I think of someone being well-read, Laurel sits at the top. With an avg of 60 stories a day, 365 days of the year, it's pretty hard to top that.

Thank you for answering

Is it just one person who reads and approves them then! I hear people mention Laurel a lot is he/she the founder and runner of the site?

Seems daunting if its just one person.

One of the many places the FAQs and such are horribly outdated - and in some cases, just plain wrong. They leave a multitude of unanswered questions as well.

It's one of the trade-offs you have to make for the vastly larger readership available here over any other erotica site.

Annoying as hell sometimes, but once the story does post, the number of people reading it is worth the speed-bumps to me :)

It is a couple. Laurel handles the writers/story side of things and Manu does the techie stuff.

SOL just posts but lit goes through an editing process that maintains quality and compliance and takes some time. Personally, I prefer the lit approach - even with the delays - to the SOL approach.

After the pains of writing, a week-long wait for publication isn't that bad.
