Ok, like many on this site, I have a series that involves myself and a celebrity of some sort.

The other week, I watched a show on vh1 about those who stalk celebrities. I almost got sick. My stories I don't think are stalking, but many of the people they higlighted, said they wern't stalking just showing some affection to someone they liked. Hmm sounds familiar.

I'm at a point where I don't want to write anymore because I don't want to be catorized as a stalker.
Does anyone out there know where I'm comming from?

The stories themselves do not constitute stalking, but were you to do other things (trespass, send multiple letters, take pictures, impose yourself on said celebrity, etc) they probably could be used against you if there were any charges brought. Most stalkers believe that they have some special connection with the star they stalk (or they feel they've been specially wronged by the celebrity) and thus feel they have the right to force their way into the star's life -- that would be the "showing affection" that you mentioned. Stalkers are pretty scary people.

If all you're doing is writing stories, I don't think you have anything to worry about. If you're writing stories and also physically doing things that might be construed as stalking...well, a lawyer or a shrink may be helpful.

i don't consider writing a story stalking.

Now if you sent it to them, that's a different story all together.

Celebrity stories? Many people write them and some plots are quite involved. I'm working on a truly erotic story about Beauty and the Beast.

Using a "real" person as inspiration is common. It's not stalking, it's just fun!! (Just don't camp out on their front door!!)

I got sent a feedback after I wrote Seducing Dawn, which was a blast of vitriol about how I was writing a sick story about a 14 y/o. (Michelle Trachtenberg who play's the character in Buffy is 14, I think). I'd deliberately moved the story on to where she was 18 though. I wanted to use the character, not the 14 y/o actress.

Same applies here. You have fantasies about famous people and write about them. It's the same principle as men admiring Ms Spears's cleavage.

The difference between a stalker and a celebrities writer, is that a stalker genuinely believes that the celebrity would want to fuck them and won't take "Get away from me you sick freak" as an answer, while the writer wishes that the celebrity would want to fuck them, but acknowledges the likelihood as being v.slim. Writers have a grasp on reality in other words.

Don't think you have anything to worry about. If stories were meant to be real life, then from my story collection, I want to have sex with a Michelle Trachtenberg, fuck my sister, slip an aphrodisiac into a friend's drink and have sex with a satyr.

Mmmm - do you have the satyr's phone number??? :D

I wasn't stalking....but....

How's this for mortifying? The person who played the character I wrote about read part of the story. Completely not by my choice.

I wrote a 5 chapter story about Wesley Crusher and the fictional daughter of Captian Picard, and it really had nothing to do with Wil Wheaton (although I do think he's hot and he was a first crush of mine leading to a lifelong addiction to computer geeks). The first chapter was linked on a site that Wil Wheaton is an active poster on. I wanted to die, especially after he read and commented on the story. For the record...exact comment "oh. dear. god." I was mortified. BTW, no they didn't get my permission to link it, they didn't put any caveat about adult content on it (it's not an adult site) and they didn't remove it even after Laurel and I sent repeated emails to them. Luckily it is now far far back into their archive. No they didn't link the other 5 chapters, thank god.

At least now I can laugh about it.

Cool story DN. Don't think Michelle Trachtenberg is old enough to read my story and Alysson Hannigan hasn't given me feedback if she has. Must have been quite entertaining to know that one of your characters has spoken to you.

Writing a story about them is not stalking. Visiting them at their home and handing them the story, or attempting to act it out now.. that is quite a different thing.

Although you may see yourself somewhat in the light of these people your writings are harmless and do not infringe on their daily activities and lives. These people that are stalking them are living in an unreal world, it is a mental disorder that you do not apparently have or you would of acted on it.

Please do not quit writing because of someone elses actions. We all have 'fantasies' about someone famous or not and it doesn't make us "strange". This is normal and part of your basic human sexuality to have fantasies as long as you realize that is exactly what they are.

At the time entertaining wasn't quite the word...mortified, embarrased and horrified worked best. It's one thing to write my stuff and send it out into a controlled place like lit. It was quite another to have it over on the other website and have an audience it wasn't addressed to read it. Luckily that day is far far back in the archives now.

Hello Jayce73,

I was reading in the Australian Psychologists Review the other week, (don't' ask, just be glad for me I got help before it was too late :) ... just kidding) that everyone has fantasies, and almost everyone fantasizes about someone they know or know of. So, you happen to write about yours, there's no harm in that I'm sure.

There are all kinds of nuts lurking on the internet. I know those kind of nasty emails must be unnerving, so I hope the positive messages you have received here off sets them.

I wish you well with your future writing (and good luck with Tera also;) ) .

Have a great day, :)

Alex (fem).
