I have recently seen alot of posts here that raise the question of people taking on other names here. Is is just me or is this becomming the "rage" so to speak? I've seen people using them to post opinions about specific people and for various other reasons...just wondering what others opinions are of this...personally I can't keep up with one name let alone 2 or 3 or even 4.

I'm with you Yes about keeping up with one name - heck, even when someone changes an AV I might not recognize them at first. lol

I suppose there are many reasons for someone to use an 'alt', and I doubt the reasons are honorable. Late last spring a friend had a rather poor ending to a relationship. Instead of being an upfront and honest person the one that did the wrong chose to return as an alt. It wasn't found out for more then a few months, when the nasty behavior was repeated with another Lit. member.

If I screw up, I make ammends - to hide behind another identity is immature. The person is usually revealed too. Behaviors and patterns aren't difficult to recognize, especially when the motive is to continue with the offending actions. It sure doesn't speak well of the person.

I am registered at another adult site and used 'Cathleen' as well - I can't be bothered trying to remember what my name is here, there and everywhere. It's difficult enough to remember one name.

I agree Cate! Oh but the mischief I could stir up with another name!

I used an ALT for a while to go and play in a different area of Lit altogether and to keep away from prying eyes. It was never done to cause any harm, in fact the opposite, it was to protect someone. She may well come back again but only to play a role away from the playground/chat threads that Foxy inhabits.

I would never use an ALT to settle a score, if I can't say "out loud" what I am thinking I won't say it!!

When Alt's Attack, on the next Fox Special!!!

I've only used this name, Hell i use this name or just Jaded or just a variation of it because the name is so damn popular, on all boards that I happen to visit........

alts suck

I personally consider "Alts" as a cowards way out. YES, you and I have talked about this....and sometimes I wonder if I may be talking to an alt of a specific person...and it sucks!!

This is nothing more than "game" playing...and frankly, I'm too old and too busy to play said game. Like someone in here said, if I can't say it outloud, I won't say it!! Plain and simple!!

Alts, please take your game elsewhere.

*nods in agreement*

I'm just Charmed. I want to be taken at face value and want to take others at face value. Kinda hard to do when they hide behind an alt.

I totally agree w/ this!! It is hard to do when they hide behind alts. It's worse when a friendship is started and then you find out about an alt...makes ya wonder! At least it did me. Needless to say, that friendship no longer exsists!

I've yet to have to end a friendship due to a dishonest person. I'm sorry that happened to you. Making true friends is often hard enough without all that added drama.

Thank you sweetie...and I'm glad it never came down to that for you! Honestly, I'd rather it happen to me than to someone I care about. I have made so many great friends online...most of which have become real life buds. As silly as it may sound, I actually met my female soulmate in here. She has turned into a best friend that I WILL have forever!!! (and no, it's not a sexual thing....lol). For the most part, I have been very blessed!! I hold my real freinds in high regard and will do any and everything in my power for them. Afteral, isn't that what friends do?

I feel the same way about my friends. Once I've claimed someone as a friend, I'm fiercly loyal. I'm lucky to have the wonderful people in my life that I already do and I'm eager to meet the new ones that are to come. Life can give you new little blessings everyday.
