Disarm Saddam and his terrorist training camps. Make sure he cannot pass on biologicals and chemicals. I'm moving closer to a major city and I want my daughter safe.

I took my turn on the firing line for you guys.

Your turn.

I still have people I love on the firing line, and as long as they are willing to die for our country and its causes, then I don't see why I should dishonor them by protesting any cause they are involved in.

Alot of us have children, and I for one am looking at the big picture...the future. No one knows what it holds, however I don't want to have to wonder about my children and their children having to deal with this monster and his sons when they are older.

This isn't an innocent man that the US wants taken out of power, he is responsible for some very sick shit, and at all costs, he needs to be stopped.

I won't argue with anyone who posts after me, this is my opinion, my view on things, so please respect mine as I will respect yours. End of political rant, I seriously hate discussing this shit unless I'm face to face with someone.

Americans should fear a government that will pack up 200,000 soldiers to invade a 5th rate country halfway around the world with the biggest arsenel of weapons ever assembled while leaving the homeland to defend itself with duct tape and 50 year old National Guard personnel at the switches of its home military bases.

On the upside...there are lots of great financing deals on new SUVs right now!

Yeah, it won't be me or my kids dying. What the fuck do I care? It's gonna be good for my portfolio, too. I can't wait!

This Iraq thing ... well, I can't help but think that someone is getting really desperate. No way out left, right?

Flatlander has a good point...

but so does Bent.

We do not disrespect those who will be SENT by the Politicians - God knows that there was WAAY too much of that disrespect 30 years ago - during another misbegotten "adventure" :(

At our age, we "fogies" feel that the "Peace cards" in the deck must be totally exhausted before the Youth are sent in with the deadly "royal flush". ;)

Saddass DOES need to be "flushed" but only when the means and timing have more universal support. :)

JMHO, with some experience in "the mix"

There will never be universal support for war.

Calling Vietnam a misbegotten "adventure" is the height of disrespect to those men and women who were sent there. It was a war, ask my father or any of the others who served if you don't believe me.

True! There is never anything approaching "universal support"for any war in a Democracy - I said "more universal" - meaning ALL of NATO - sorry that you misread my words, and my intent. ;)

Dear lady - PLEASE look at my original post., before you accuse me of something I just came out AGAINST! :)

Have you EVER, when you read what I was saying - heard me disrespect a Vet? Ish & SIN are my friends here - BOTH are Vets. - Would they allow me ONE word of disrespect? Uh-Uh!

I am 52 years old - you know that. You also know that I attended highschool in the US - Two of my dearest friends are helicopter pilots STILL - Stan & Lachie are graduates of Ft. Rucker, AL - in 1968. ;) Not to "steal their voices" - but both are agin' unilateral action by Dubbya et al

You like NASCAR, I like Endurance Racing - differing Opinions, not a "civil war", Dear. :rose:

This has nothing to do with our national security or our children's future. I served during Vietnam, I was drafted. I didn't agree with that war and yes, I marched against that war. Twice. When I was 17 years old, I marched. But, when I got my draft notice in the mail I went. I would still march against it and I would still go again if I was called. That's my right as an American.

As for Saddam. Who are we kidding? This is all about control of the middle east and OIL, folks. That's where the power is, Exxon, Gulf, BP. Saddam does need to be watched. But, the world is different now, like it or not. Can we, should we go in there with a hard on for this guy and wipe him out? It would be nice if our illustrious government gave us all the poop and nothing but the poop. Like that'll ever happen.

I wonder how many more than 1.5 million people have to be slaughtered before those with freedom decide to fight for those without.

A million French and Italian citizens protesting the war is about as newsworthy as last week's weather.

Although they say otherwise, some people don't believe anything is worth fighting for. Even their own country.

Where were these people when Saddam gassed his own people?

Unfortunately, for many, freedom isn't held dear until it's lost.

Possibly they were busy being in favor of ignoring the UN and a couple NATO allies when we went into Bosnia, ended the slaughter of those there, and brought Milosevic to justice.

Maybe not.

Clearly, this is a question for the Bush Oil Team to decide. It isn't of concern to us little people.

Hamlet, you're a much smarter man than to use Oil as a rationale here.

Jimmie's USUALLY coherent...

Why is he posting with PC's troll today?

Did the US get Milosovic?

I am

Jimi, I'm quite coherent. If you want me to explain my full position, I'm willing to. I've done it in other threads, too.

The US moved in defiance of UN inertia to put together a coalition through NATO to act in Bosnia. The UN was still generally opposed to military action in Bosnia even while we were uncovering mass graves and other concrete evidence of butchery.

Re: Jimmie's USUALLY coherent...

Yes, Milo was caught and is still in The Hague last time I checked.

Yeah! And they did it to Hiler too. He was elected . How dare they do this again?

I think the original Bush should have ended the threat when he had the chance. Let us hope we can finish the job this time!

Super Mega Dittos

And we don't need to hope.

New moon, 500 Cruise missiles are launched hitting simultaneously. The paratroopers hit before the shock wears off, while our men and aircraft, outfitted with nightvision, off everything that dares to move and by daybreak, Bagdhad is under seige...

And still the French will be negotiating for an honorable surrender to Saddam...

For those of you that don't know this...the main objective of the Gulf War was not to oust Saddam Hussein, but to Liberate Kuwait, so yes, for the hundredth fucking time, we completed our mission.

*Off my soapbox*

You have to look no further than Operation Shock and Awe to realize this war will not be about the innocent Iraqis.

Oh yes... I am always so relieved to find all the objectives of the mission were met according to revised objectives used in the after action reports.
