Your quote there is a very valid one. My nickname is an Alt, however...there have been numerous occasions that I have given people my true name, my phone number, or even posted my actual, unobscured picture as my av.

It's unfortunate that you miss the very crux of my arguement. I never imagined for one moment that everyone here would applaud this thread or throw roses at my feet. It's just one person's opinion here....just like anyone else's.

I wasn't referring to the open forum. I was talking about when people take 'friends' into their confidence outside of here, in PM, on Yahoo, MSN, whatever, and are betrayed. It has happened to alot of people, and for all you know, it has happened to you.

You talk about trust...people have been trusted, and then betrayed the person who trusted them, thus prompting a few that I know of to take on an alt, for some peace and quiet....and who can blame those people for not trusting again?

I don't believe that if someone is an ass on here, they are an ass in real life...to me, as I have always stated, this is the internet, and those that don't interact with me outside of here, I expect nothing from other than conversation. Those however that I do talk to outside of here, are the ones that I would hold to your strict guidelines, because they would know as much of the real me as I will let them, and I'm sure the same holds true from their side as well.

For me, it just depends on how comfortable we are with each other. Some are comfortable interacting on here, others in a more intimate way one on one. Some with alts, some without.

I get accused ALOT of being other people, and I have gotten to the point where I just don't care who anyone thinks I am. I have come forth on many occasion to say that no I am not Colin, JackAssJim, Rex, etc, (but yet, people still feel that I need to continue explaining myself - sorry, I'm too old for that game)...because those are people that have been talking to me...not Bent, but me, and don't deserve to be thrown into someone's overly dramatic tangent.

For the rest, I honestly, am just tired of explaining myself, and besides, those that know me, know the truth of all things...if someone hasn't taken the time to get to know me, and wants to judge me purely on what is here, on speculation or whatever, then so be it...there is no loss, no gain on either side...we will forever remain at square one.

Although I may have CHANGED my name once or twice in the past - same as numerous other posters here - I ONLY use one name to post under. I have not used any other name except for Mia62 since I switched to this one (except for about 4 posts as Mia'swetpussy as a joke).

It made no difference to Laurel except for the thing the first time around because I started over with 0 posts with Mia. If I should ever switch names again...I will do the same thing (minus the s) and start over at 0 posts.
