I was thinking of doing so more hardcore writing than my norm -- nc and incest -- and so as to not confuse people I was thinking of taking on a new name. Does anyone here write under more than one name? Is that frowned upon? Do I just make a new account?

Basically, a lot of the stories in those categories are fairly poorly written, and I think I owe it to smut to Add Some More Poorly Written Stuff to the Lit Gene Pool.

When I decided to write a story that was really close to home - i.e., really reflected some things that have happened in my real life, I took another pen name.

Most of my stories have humor in them, but this one had none. I decided that a different name would allow me to post some stories that weren't in my normal mold. Those readers who follow my work wouldn't necessarily be disappointed with something different from me.

I actually think your idea a good one. If you're writing something significantly different to what you normally write, I think an alias is a good way to help audience know what to expect (or what not to).

There could be several very valid reasons for posting under an alt. To avoid trolls, to test a theory. I don't see a problem with it. There are also a couple of alts around that are actualy more than one person, to allow anonymous joint ventures...
