Alan Dershowitz on Libby's Commutation

I thought I asked you to fuck off?

That doesn't answer my question.
Why would the Clintons be in prison?

You did, I don't take requests nor orders from fools.

Um, because they're criminals?

Oh yeah, CNN didn't say so. Oops, my bad.

I'm sure you have the facts to back up that statement. What charges exactly?

If they're criminals then why haven't they been charged and found guilty?

Because we live in America, not China.

Now go adjust your blinders. I'm done with you. I'll let others here prove how idiotic you are. I haven't the patience.

Well, that makes perfect sense....

In other words, you can't really say why. But you personally believe it to be so.

I'm sure the FBI will be heading straight out to arrest them both and toss them into federal prison on your unassailable assertion.

And monkeys may fly out of your butt.

I'm gonna leave you with this.

"I did not have sex with that woman."

That and he sold secrets to China and should have been shot as a traitor. But we live in a kinder, gentler more ignorant time filled with idiots such as yourself.

Why didn't you just defect to Canada while you were in the Army? Or did you try and they wouldn't take you? Because I know even Canada has limits.

We covered the whole Lewinsky thing. Do try to keep up.

Sold secrets to China? Really? Just what secrets were those now?

I've never been to Canada, I hear it's nice. Why would I have defected? I served under a mostly sane President, one that knew better than to try to overthrow Saddam and occupy Iraq. It's a pity a little of his intelligence didn't get passed on to his son.

Who hired Pelicano?

Who hired Craig Livingstone?

Lots of people hired Pelicano.

Livingstone? Under criticism, Livingstone resigned from his position during the Filegate controversy. The matter was investigated by the Whitewater Independent Counsel, who found in 2000 that there was no criminal activity by anyone in the matter.

No cigar for you.

Wasn't that because Hillary had all of the pertinent documents hidden under her bed?

Nope, all of the documents requested did make their way to the Prosecution.

Why is it that any time someone points out a complete lack of accountability within the Bush administration conservatives immediately start bringing up Clinton as if two wrongs somehow make a right?

Kind of like bringing up Kennedy in (Tourettes) Chappaquiddick!
*squawk*
Clinton did it!
Dredging up Studds during the Foley scandal.. Comical.

It took less than a single page (13 posts in fact) for the right to start trying to deflect and point fingers at the Clintons when they have nothing whatsoever to do with the commutation of Libby's sentence, the Plame leak case, and the blatant lack of respect for the law demonstrated by this administration.

Here's the problem I have with you (not that you do, or should care): You are so partisan in your posting that any point you make is overshadowed by the impression that you are singing the party line, without respect to right or wrong. BB does the same exact thing.

Comparison of administrations is a valid way to establish a standard of care. For example:

It's valid to say that Clinton balanced the budget, while Bush spends money like a sailor in a whore-house.

It's valid to say that the US was more respected under Clinton than under Bush.

It's valid to say that Clinton was a better public speaker than Bush.

It's also valid to compare Bush's pardons to those of other administrations - including Clinton's (has anyone mentioned Ford's pardon of Nixon?).

Analysis of previous administrations is the only metric to evaluate the current administration. Thus, if Bush does something we feel outraged about, we SHOULD look to the past and see if what he is doing is out of the norm, or is just what other administrations have done. If the outrage remains, change the system that permits the action we are upset about.

Clinton was a pardoning fool. Even if they were clearly guilty.

Libby was not. But hey, thats politics right?
1) I don't give a fuck about Clinton - when did I ever defend Clinton??

2) Libby was found guilty by a court of law.

I am partisan, nearly anyone that has chosen to back a particular party is to some extent.

However, I am not blindly partisan. I'm just as quick to lambast a Democratic politician as a Republican one, when it is deserved (see my commentary on William Jefferson). I haven't condoned the behavior of President Clinton so much as refuted illegitimate claims about him and his wife. "They're criminals and should be in prison.", "He was disbarred."... etc.

I didn't defend Clinton's use of 11th hour pardons, I only stated that using the fact that he did it to excuse the behavior by Bush was laughable. Two wrongs do not make a right.

There are plenty of metrics to evaluate the current administration. Comparing this president's obvious misuse of the ability to commute a sentence to the previous one when both could be considered to be wrong is akin to trying to justify a murderer's actions by pointing out the actions of another murderer as somehow "worse".

Pointing at a predecessor and screaming "He did it too!" isn't really a defense, especially when the circumstances aren't truly comparable. Unless you can point out a specific case in which Clinton deliberately sidestepped a court decision and interceded for someone that could very possibly be used as a witness against him and his administration then you don't really have a valid comparison as far as Libby's commutation goes.

Bush's actions with regards to Libby are arguably an attempt at self preservation and an attempt to protect his vice president by making it impossible to reach conclusions with regards to several ongoing investigations. If you want to compare apples to apples then give an example of when Clinton gave a pardon or clemency to someone that could have been used against him in the Whitewater investigation, the Jones case, or his Impeachment. Otherwise you really have nothing comparable.

P.S. Comparing me to DizzyB was lower than low. I do form (mostly) coherent sentences and don't mindlessly defend any Democrat on a partisan basis (again look at my comments regarding William Jefferson). Do go fuck yourself.

Here's a theory: When Bush was Governor and refusing to commute sentences, he justified it through respect for the competence of the judicial branch. But now he knows the judicial branch is full of incompetents because he put them there.

And when the fuck have you ever seen Dershowitz defend the constitution?
