Now don't get me wrong, I have been known to sleep in such lovely places as snow banks and Mud Holes. I have also spent more time than I care to think about sleeping on unpadded floors and a single mattress on the floor.

Now though I have reached Nirvana.

I have a Full sized Mattress Set, (Not quite Queen Sized) on a high rise Captains Bed Frame. (Reinforced thank you very much.) On top of the Mattresses I have a closed cell foam pad. (The same material used in the super expensive Tempurpedic Beds.)

For Sheets we have high thread count Flannel topped with a light weight Micro Fibre Fleece Blanket. (I usually kick the blanket off.)

Talk about a pleasure to slide into.

So what do you have for a bed?

I have a queen sized bed with one of those tempur-pedic toppers, a pillowtop matress pad... then 600 thread count cotton sheets and a faux down comforter that I also kick off.

And the part that's priceless... I kicked the dogs out two years ago. Huskies... ON THE FLOOR! OH YEAH!

A full-sized box springs, a slab of plywood, a futon mattress and a closed cell foam topper. My sheets are ones I inherited from my grandmother, always dried outside.

Currently, a 3/4 sized crappy old spring mattress on a plywood base. None of the sheets fit properly and the feather quilt kisses the floor.

I miss my real bed - queen sized, iron frame, chiropractic support mattress...

sigh.

A decorative headboard, side rails and a ginormous King size double pillowtop mattress that weighs a ton and is a bitch to put sheets on. Sheets are egyptian cotton 600-700 thread count, big ol' pillows full of something soft and a super warm decorative comforter.

The guest room has roughly the same thing, except the mattress is a Queen size. No complaints from any guests so far. ;)

I can sleep on a picket fence, but it's sure nice to snooze in that bed. :D

queen sized bed with a pillow top mattress, feather bed on top of that with cozy cotton sheets and a yummy duvet that I love to curl up in and plenty of pillows.

I believe I have a twin size (I'm actually an inch longer, but I like to hand my feet off the end of the bed anyway or they cramp up), with mattress and spring base, on a cheap metal frame. No head or foot board.

Longer than normal King size (of course).

My wife makes do with a Queen size bed.

Sleeping needs space. Other things? Your bed or mine?

We sleep on a California King (same length, but wider than a standard king)sized waterbed. Lots of romping room and it's heated so that it keeps you warm on chilly night.

Queen size Simmons Beautyrest combo. Innerspring and memory foam, extra thick mattress, requires Deep Pocket sheets.

-sigh- I forget what a "real" bed is.

Up until mid-last year my bed was my rack on the ship...which is usually a thin, worn mattress about a third of the thickness of a regular mattress on a steel plate. Most of last year it was an airbed [one of the really thick ones]. As of late though, its been a futon mattress on the floor.

California King Tempurpedic. Heaven! The pillows, though, need help!

Too Cool! We've got a California King Tempurpedic too! You should get the matching contoured pillows. They are great! (and they also fit other places than behind your head, if you catch my drift!)

Believe me, as soon as I get my sinuses drilled out and soft palate chemically firmed up, we will. And I'll be able to get rid of the damned plastic mouthpiece, as well. This will have the added benefit of keeping whoever my roommate and the people in the rooms on both sides of us from strangling me in my sleep to stop my snoring. :D

This is the bed I have (this model, this isn't a pic of mine). I LOVE it:

My bedroom is so small that I don't dare get something as decadent as that. I may, though, design and build a more modest headboard/footboard set. That is, I may as soon as I finish Mama's display case, the futon for the studio, a night stand . . .

That would require me to stop writing, unfortunately. I really, really need to retire!

It doesn't take up any more room than a regular queen size...really.

LOL
But a queen is too small for us and there is no more than 12" to the curtains on her side, 18" to the dressers on mine and not enough space to the far wall at the foot. A sled would add another 18-24" to the total length of the bed and there simply isn't enough room. Small, California tract house, you see. Maybe after we retire and I can talk her into moving to Ojai . . .

See the first thing you do is borrow Amy's sawzAll...

I miss my waterbed :(. Great to sleep on, altho I wasnt crazy about sex in it. My ideal would be a waterbed for snoozing, regular mattress for nookie.

The most comfortable bed I have ever been on was described to me as a Gell Bed. The guy who owned it said it was basicly a waterbed filled with a gel. (?????)

Now let me tell you about comfort. The damned thing seemed to mold to my body and supported me like nothing else. On the other hand it responded slowly for the more energetic activities in the bed.

Anyone else dealt with one of these?

Until I find another one I'll stick with mine.

Oh and the Flannel sheets are great even in the summer heat.

That sounds like the California King Tempurpedic bed like VM and we have. It's got the Tempurpedic memory foam on top and baffled waterbed cells below (which are heated = makes it so snuggly). I think they also add something to the water to make it thicker so that it doesn't move so quickly (that old waterbed slosh thing).
