I think we deal pretty well with things on our own. Apart from the odd religious spammer, I don't see how we really need a moderator. Most people seem to operate on a policy of politeness and common decency, and those who aren't are put down pretty quickly. We have a wide enough range of personalities in AH to deal with almost any situation.

As a moderator in two other forums here, I know a few things about the job, and there's simply no reason for one in a general forum like this, other than to remove spam. Anyone can report those threads and Laurel will remove them within a few hours anyway, without the need for moderators.

Same thing for stickies: the only threads that ever need to be stick'd here are posted by Laurel or Manu...

That got me thinking. What if....(such dangerous words)...only teams of two could post. The teams were composed along sexual inclinations (for me I would have to have a female team member) and would have to be have of varied national origin. What if?

We, not just our government but our people as well who backed our government's stance, tried to stop some of you invading Iraq. That was the act of a genuine friend as now some of you appreciate. What did we get out of it? Abuse.

We have a large Muslim population and understand perhaps better than most what a can of worms Iraq was and would be.

Of course we French could moderate your forum. We have a better understanding that doing nothing is often the wisest course when tempers are inflamed. A little sleep, a few glasses of wine, some good bread and cheese, some more wine... and everything arranges itself.
