For those of you involved with forwarding the petition about the mistreatment of women in Afghanistan, it has been brought to my attention that the petition part of the email is a hoax!

This is a very sad thing; that someone would take the time to make this up for their own sorry amusement.

Anyway, here's the link to a web site that describes and lists hoaxes. It's the last one on the list.

I'm just posting this so y'all can decide for yourselves what you want to do about this email.

A more effective method would be to have constituents call, write, or email their congresspeople in washington as well as the whitehouse. Petitions are a nice step, but not nearly as effective with communicating with the policy makers. The rumble coming from the registered voting masses will be heard on capitol hill and will be heard in the White House.

Yes, I'm one of those bright eyed bushy tailed rose colored glasses critters who still believes that the system can work.

As a resource the site below can be helpful. It includes information about every member of congress, including email addresses. It also provides links to newspapers and television stations. I've used these resources when I've wanted to post a letter to the editor on a subject such as the one you're considering. Good luck. This is an important subject.
