Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Damn, beat me to it! :D Read about this coming home on the train, got caught up looking at smut. ;)

I'm for it. There's a lot to exploit for the NYC-based heroes and make better for Spidey as a whole, since the two reboots were adequate as is but weren't necessarily amazing. Sony smelled that noise quick. The co-production effort will be good for both houses.

BUT

Downside is that several of Marvel's announced Phase 3 solo titles in coming pre-Infinity War that aren't already in the pre-production pipeline are being pushed back to accommodate Spidey. Here's what I know from the industry heads' Twitter buzz going down on this...

Pushed back:

Thor: Ragnarok - now November 3, 2017
Black Panther - now July 6, 2018
Captain Marvel - now November 2, 2018
The Inhumans - now July 12, 2019

Captain America: Civil War is still on track, natch, as is likely Doctor Strange, Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 and the Avengers: Infinity War 2018-2019 double pak.

The pushing back is anywhere from a half-year to a year. I know everything has, or had a sked in place to be integrated gradually into Infinity War and maximize a collective shared universe franchise. Also to be considered are SHIELD and Daredevil. Aaaand possible Agent Carter second half season as it's a runaway hit. So, Marvel has a lot of irons in the fire and the push back is likely a necessity for team quality control and company finance spread-out.

Not happy with Black Panther being pushed back, though. Should've left that one on the original calendar. That one in particular fans were almost as hungry for as Age Of Ultron. Sony was already going to drop a Spidey movie in 2017 regardless of a collabo. Again, if they integrate the Web-Head into Civil War, do it good.

Sony also still has ownership and leverage on Spidey. Buzz is that the company split is around 60/40. Don't know how this will affect creative output. Marvel isn't essentially losing anything on this collab. Kevin Feige is like the President Obama of the comic book movie industry at this point. If Marvel brings in Whedon on Spidey 3 with the MCU power in the background, it could be a game-changer.

I like Spider-man coming to the MCU where he belongs but I don’t know about putting him in Civil War, although that is the film to have him in. You already have Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Falcon, Winter Soldier and Black Panther and now you have to squeeze Spider-man as well. Shouldn’t a Captain America movie be about Cap?

And Marvel fucked Civil War in the comics! I don’t want to watch heroes fight each other; they fight a villain, which is what villains are for!

You're not the only one unhappy about Black Panther. People are ready for him. It's seems like a great story with the vibranium mines (I think they're mines, anyway . . . like I keep saying most of my marvel knowledge is fuzzy).

But overall it'll be worth it. Spidey is arguably Marvel's biggest star, or used to be. It's hard to see this story arc without him.

I think it would have been cool to see the Miles Morales version, though, since I know so little about him.

Do we know we're NOT getting Miles Morales other than common sense says they'll give us Peter. I read a pretty decent article somewhere saying Miles would simply be a better choice. I mean currently the only person on the Avengers who isn't white happens to be green. Now I think it's safe to say that Falcon will be around for Age of Ultron and possibly Rhode also but Miles would be a welcome face.

More to the point there have been two origin movies for Spidey in the last 15 years and the original Sam Raimi film still holds up. The only reason they rebooted that was the third movie was terrible and I think the actors wanted off. Which is something Marvel is going to have to address at some point. I mean so far we've had two replacements Rhode swapped and Hulk swapped. And heaven forbid an actor dies but they've honestly got too many people running around to think they'll be able to hold the cast together and there's no good reason (other than dumping the history so new fans can jump on board. I mean seriously did you see that list Zoomi posted. If you haven't stayed caught up at this point we're talking several weeks of catching up for the sane people and several days for the people who can binge. I casually ran the numbers and we're talking 50+ hours at this point easy. Hell half of that is Agents of Shield. But eventually someone will have to swap out.

So Miles hasn't been seen before by most fans which gives them more leeway to do what they want with him instead of being shackled by people who are familiar with Peter and his story. Enough people have seen the five movies and I wager a fair amount of people around my age watched at least one of the cartoons with him over the years. I don't want to spend thirty minutes with Uncle Ben again, if it's not a long running cartoon I don't want to see Gwen Stacy either. Sure she was a character once upon a time in the comics, but today? She exists for the sole purpose of dying to give Peter some grief and growth. And me personally, I have a hard time investing in a character that we all know is gonna die. Hell I was shocked she made it out of the first Amazing Spiderman.

Also I assume that Spidey wont' be "in, in" Cap 3 so much as either a quick telling of how he gets his powers, or him being in the stinger at after the credits. I'd be shocked if he gets more than ten minutes of screen time.

Also Civil War? So we kill cap and Falcon takes over as Black Captain America? Is that where we're headed?

I was just recently clued into the fact that the actress playing Dottie from Agent Carter was none other than Bridget Regan who was the Confessor in "Legend of the Seeker." She's spectacular! I always wondered where she'd gone. Now she's an adorable lipstick sniffing bondage participating baby widow who really is insanely fetching in 40's styles. I'm enjoying the Agent Carter show so much, it has superior storytelling and presentation when compared to Agents of Shield IMHO.

She played a great villain on White Collar. The best they had, in my opinion.

I read an article that basically said the plan is for Peter Parker.

I honestly assumed that it was. For all the reasons I stated and more Miles Morales would be an incredibly bold move. Right up there with green lighting Guardians of the Galaxy. And I don't care how good that movie was or how well it did at the box office making that movie was some incredibly bold shit.

The only reason Miles might have a prayer is the modern Marvel movies clearly draw more heavily from the Ultimates universe than the classic. That's where black Nick Fury is from. Honestly if I wasn't certain black Nick is here to stay even when we go home to 616 I'd pay to watch people flip out when this guys shows up.

Ultimate Captain America is a lot stronger than classic. Classic is basically America themed Batman and Ultimate is more in line with Spiderman (Strength wise)

So I tried to believe in Miles. But I know I shall be dissapointed.

well, yeah. peter parker is spider man to pretty much everyone. even non-comic readers know the name peter parker and know that peter parker is spider man. miles, however, they don't fucking know him and guess what: non-comic readers greatly outnumber the comic geeks of the world, so spider man is going to be peter fucking parker and that's all there is to it.

Oh, the only argument I can make against this Guardians. But you are 100% right and my biggest reason for not wanting Pete is this will be the third reboot in 15 fucking years! I do not want to watch him mope over Uncle Ben while fighting a goblin. At all. That shit holds zero appeal for me and I don't who you send other than Goblins and Octopi that could hope to carry a movie. Electro clear as fuck couldn't. The lizard had slightly better luck.

Personally I've always thought a dual bad guy movie with Lizard and Kraven would be brilliant. Shit writes itself. Lizard shows up, goes nuts, Kraven shows up, hunt's lizard, Spiderman is stuck protecting the super dangerous Lizard from the Hunter. Eventually he wins, the end.

From what I've heard, there's no reboot plan. Spider-Man is going to join the Marvel Universe as an established character the MCU characters already know. No new origin story.

Whether the actor remains the same is another story. Reportedly, one of the sticking points in the deal was Garfield, and nothing has been said about how that worked out.

garfield would be a nice keep as long as they stop pretending he's a fucking high school kid 'cause dude just doesn't look the part anymore. he was good as spider man though in a lot of ways. i mean it wasn't his fault the movies quickly devolved into a mediocre high school soap opera. that was the idiots who wrote and directed the fuckers fault.

That's almost a good reason to drop him. I think a lot of us prefer High School Peter to college and up Peter. I mean except the hardcore fans who are still pissed about One More Day.

I've been out of school for years and was never really bullied, but that Peter I can relate to a lot more than College peter who appears to go to college solely because it gives him access to the lab. I don't need to know his major or anything crazy like that but he seriously seems to attend school for the awesome equipment and at this point between the Fantastic Four, Avengers, Ironman (who doesn't always share Stark Towers), SHIELD and the X-men someone needs to just toss Peter a set of keys and tell him he's always welcome to cook up some webbing and test it in the Danger Room.

I'm just praying this means Sony understands that they shit the bed with the reboot, and that this will be a two way street where they listen to the Marvel folks for upcoming solo films.

Fox has more or less redeemed X3 and Origins with the last 3 X-films. If they're brave enough to go R-rated with Deadpool, they could turn a relatively low-budget release into a goldmine.

The FF reboot has me worried. To go so long with almost zero information and then release only a ( underwhelming ) teaser trailer this late in the game?

If the Spider-Man integration goes well, maybe Fox will cut a deal too.

Hoping Marvel continues with the mini-series idea, because Agent Carter is fun, and being able to spend more per episode shows. I love AOS to death and I'm tweaking for it to come back, but Agent Carter has certainly dulled the pain. It will be a multi-repeat watch on Amazon for me, I'm sure.

They're also not locked in having to sell season-2 of anything in a hurry. If someone brings them a treatment for some other property and it's brilliant, they can do that and give a second mini-series for Carter time to gel if necessary.

If I had to wager a guess I'd say a lot of studios already planned around Age of Ultron and if they didn't someone at marketing is currently scrambling to both get the fuck out of the way (for action flicks) or to ramp up marketing if your a movie that isn't going to suffer too much from going up against AoU. I mean I assume that the comedy genre in general and RomCom in particular would do similar business either way.

And as much as I enjoyed Agent Carter dear god that fucking several months long break is nuts. I barely remember what was going on in that Trip had died and apparently my TiVo didn't give me "Last time on AoS" Twas annoying. Had to go a wikiing in the breaks.
