Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Just. Fucking. Awesome.

Will discuss later in depth with anyone who's already seen it, don't wanna spoil it for those who haven't. Lotta good shit in this that the trailers didn't show. If not exactly a game-changer like Winter Soldier was, it definitely raises the bar for multi-cast member superhero flicks. DC is gonna have to do triple-time on their cinematic dance moves if they wanna catch up to Marvel Studios' steam. :D

An allusion to Civil War was made in last week's SHIELD ep., gonna see if they continue the tradition of using the aftermath cinematic tie-ins in tomorrow's joint.

I didn't get to see it over the weekend, and I'm desperately trying to avoid spoilers. I'm seeing all kinds of 4 and 5-star reviews, though. May get to see it tonight!

I'll be back! :D

Honestly I think it's more of a game changer than Winter Soldier. Most of the fall out of Winter Soldier was felt only by the Agents of SHIELD. Age of Ultron not only didn't seem to really notice they the difference but what do you know a Triskellian happened to be ready! Antman was essentially off in his own corner of the universe, same as all the Netflix stuff. Sure they were around but would their story have been massively different? Nope.

I personally don't think this is the BEST movie in the franchise but I must admit to having a real soft spot for the first Avengers film. What this does beautifully is justify the franchise like no sequel I've ever seen save perhaps the late Harry Potters. Here you have a story that you could not tell without more back story than you could cram into one movie.

Yup, they did. Badass episode, too. :D

How Captain America: Civil War Tied In With Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

BY ADAM HOLMES

Warning: spoilers for both last night’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Captain America: Civil War are ahead!

This past weekend, Captain America: Civil War was finally released in U.S. theaters, plunging most of the MCU’s superheroes into a conflict over ideological differences. If you’ve been watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for the last couple years, you know that every time Marvel releases a movie in May, the series ties into that release, and last night’s episode, “Emancipation,” was no exception. While the episode didn’t treat the audience to any cameos from the movie’s cast, the aftermath of the “event” was definitely felt as Phil Coulson and the rest of the team struggled with the new status quo surrounding enchanted beings.

Meh, I'm not even sure it really deserved a second season much less a third. One thing I deeply envy the Japanese and to a lesser extent the English on is that they are capable of writing stories for television with a beginning, middle and end and Americans just milk that sonbitch till it's dry. No reason to keep focusing on Peggy.

Honestly I make an Inhumans show and slap on the West? (Where the fuck is S.H.I.E.L.D. geographically?) coast and steal the script from the somewhat underrated X-Men Evolution. Clearly their powers aren't copyrighted anyhow but that's not what made that story work.

Agreed.

Just came back from seeing it tonight, so I'm still processing everything. That first Avengers movie is still the most fun I've ever had in a movie theater, but this was unbelievable. Some very human elements dealing with loss and responsibility, and the airport scene is everything I've heard it would be.

The character introductions were handled amazingly well. Black Panther? Holy Shit. Spider-Man? HOLY SHIT.

Everyone in this movie got to be a badass at some point, and both sides were presented heroically.

Just a fantastic action movie.

Disagree. The least of reasons to keep Agent Carter going is that it was the perfect midseason break filler for AoS. With all the money ABC burned on the expensive Of Gods And Prophets only to show two episodes and shelve the rest, I can't see why they wouldn't fork out for a proven Marvel property that's like a mini-season in length. Plus, Marvel's Most Wanted was deaded and AoS took an L on Bobbi and Hunter leaving the show for that possibility. All for naught. ABC has been struggling to fill in the hour blocks before and after AoS and with their itchy hatchet fingers not willing to give a series a chance to grow their legs before deep sixing them...hell, I'm still crying over Selfie, Trophy Wife and Forever...even Muppets couldn't last...what are they gonna do with their open time slots? We were looking at a potential minor Tuesday night Marvel dynasty that's not gonna happen. Seriously, the execs in that company need to come down to ground level and see how heads are enjoying watching shit and get back to cultivating shit instead of looking for the quick fast food burger. I'm not really looking forward to seeing Shark Tank or Dancing With The Stars reruns from December to March when AoS is on hiatus.

Back to Agent Carter. The most that it was doing was giving an incredibly capable female protagonist and cemented MCU character her spot to shine. Addressing sexism, civil rights, disability, diversity, etc. Coupled with seeing how S.H.I.E.L.D. rose from the SSR and tying the past with the present MCU & television properties. Not to mention having Dominic Cooper spotlight shine as Howard Stark, who is an absolute gas to watch as he gets his ho-bag self on (no offense to John Slattery's fine presence as the latter-day Stark senior in the movies.) There's a gold mine of stories to be told and shaped with that. They had good shit in that show on top of unfinished plot lines that S2 left at the cliffhanger end.

If Netflix was smart, they should've optioned for it, but Hayley Atwell already has a new ABC gig to do something different, so...was fun while it lasted, I suppose.

Here's what I think your missing to some degree. I like having a mid season filler for AOS. But does it have to be Agent Carter and does it have to be every year? If the point is dealing with any of the issues of sex and race that they did tackle there are other Marvel characters floating around and besides Agent Carter wasn't exactly an established character (I don't know if she was new for the movies or not, never was a Cap fan.) but you could tell a story in the 60's with a black female, or an Asian one.

Right now I think Marvel's true strength is that they can essentially put their name on something and it sells. They had a huge movie about a talking, tree and racoon where the best known actor was probably Zoe Saldana. Batista was big for wrestling fans I guess, nobody knew Chris Pratt until the one two punch of Guardians and Jurassic World, and voice acting doesn't count. Especially when you say three words in varying levels of intensity.

Vampries are still doing pretty well. You can't squeeze out eight episodes of Blade this year and eight episodes following the Nova Corps the year after? Maybe show us what Deathlok is up to. (Admittedly I like J. August Richards.)

Two hour season finale in two hours!

It's been a really good season. Somebody's definitely gonna die tonight.

I'm thinking it's going to be Lincoln. Maybe. It definitely can't be Coulson, May or Daisy. Fitzsimmons is too much of a lock as a couple. Mack is a fan favorite and heads would burn down Marvel Studios if they murked him.

HOWEVER THIS IS WHEDON WE'RE TALKING ABOUT AND YOU KNOW HOW THAT MOTHERFUCKER DO.

cuz last year I was like

Bouncing to the spot in thirty. My boy who bartends my Tuesday SHIELD nights knows I need a good seat in front of the screen and it's gonna be bourbon all the way through! :D

I think it's gotta be Mai. She's central enough that it hurts without it just being unfair. Fitz-Simmons is like the chewtoy of the universe at this point. If one of them dies the other needs to go full villain and destroy the universe.
