SO my most recent Story was published in all its unedited Glory. (I hit submit docx without re-downloading the file. Damn you Google Docs). Obviously I was mortified and embarrased. There were waaay more typos than usual and one completely incoherent paragraph. No idea what I was trying to say. At first I wanted it down immediately and I re-submitted the edited version that day. Its still been about a month.

But i've become okay with it. Still hope the edited version gets put up soon, but I think it's interesting that my (50) faithful readers got to see behind the curtain a little. Probably helps that a Anon commented and said the story was so good he barely noticed the typos.

Anything like that ever happened to you? How did you handle it?

I had the same thing happen. Only thing I submitted was a brief synopsis of the story 'About That Kiss', because I'd just got a new version of Word that didn't work the same as the last one.

It was for a contest too, and of course it was the last day to submit. As soon as I realized what I'd done, once I'd read a few comments, I sent the story I wanted to submit, explaining what happened and Laurel kindly made the switch in time to get it entered. The story did okay, too. Although I did get a few comments asking what the hell I was doing when they first read the synopsis, probably thinking I'd lost my mind.

I'm a little confused here. If you accidentally submit something prematurely, it will move out of the drafts folder and go into your pending folder for a few days before being posted. I guess you didn't notice where it was?

I didn't notice the unedited version until it was published.

So there is a correctly edited version? I go through pasting it into the submission box to sort of avoid what you're going through. I just want to see it what's there when I hit the submit button. No surprises.

I did once screw up the category and it took six days to fix it, which is remarkably fast. Still, the readers were baffled I guess and they had moved on by then. Only two of them bothered to vote.

I write mostly novels. As a result, I naturally cannot get a volunteer editor to proofread my entire opus. However, I do occasionally entice a volunteer to help for a chapter or two. I find that no matter how much one reads or rereads an entry the same are bound to contain some typos that are missed. The other day I had to buy a new remote for my TV and the instruction manual contained a plethora of truly egregious typos. Your opening posting contains a typo which you obviously had overlooked. So, you see what I mean. I have made it my practice to correct some errors while still in the process of still writing the chapter. Once a chapter is finished, I proofread it before submitting the chapter to Literotica in the draft process. Then before submitting the chapter for publication, I go over and read the chapter once more in its draft form. Yet despite all such precautions I do miss an occasional typo. The other day I reread a chapter that was published a few days ago and darn it I discovered two typos I had missed. You are obviously aware of how to edit published work and you can trust me on this one that your edited version will eventually appear.
