Ah, the filter. ;)

A land far, far away ... with very thick coffee. Well, coffee of all kinds, actually. I did my best, but there were many drinks to sample. I even learned to appreciate beer. I'm a late bloomer. :eek:

Happy writing all. Um. I should do some of that. Actually, I've dragged up a big medical article for research for my next chapter. I just hope I can understand more than the little words!

Coffee! Some of that and all will be clear, I'm sure.

Actually, it's very interesting. I got to it through the college database, it's a SpringerLink article titled, Sexual Satisfaction Predicts Quality of Life: A Study
of Adult Amputees. It could be of interest to anyone who writes erotica and believes themselves to be a compassionate person as the article deals with issues, many societal, on how amputees deal with the issue and feel about themselves, how society treats them regarding sexuality and how they seem to cope. There hasn't been much research into it, apparently.

SR once wrote a very good treatment about an older man in a gay situation and surprisingly many of his commenters gave him grief for it. The story was lovely, the comments say more about how we as a culture feel about those with disabilities.

Ultimately, I'm not sure I have the ability to adequately handle this direction the story is going. We'll see. I'm just researching now.

Yeah, ours is a culture that prefers physical and mental perfection. No wonder so many of us are unhappy. ;)

Yep, perfection is a bit rough to attain, and it's shoved at us in every venue. When I'm writing my perfect characters I wonder. I love to read stories about imperfect characters and with the written word, I think it's easy to make the normal attractive as our minds built the story and the relationship and the mental game trumps the physical.

I'm sure you'll figure it out. If it's meant to go into the story, you'll find a way to do so.

When I was four, a dog bit me on the face. Once in school, I struggled with it a great deal. The scars still show. Both on my face, and inside.

Many of my characters have flaws. My last one was an ex-con. I'm using a character born with Downs syndrome in a current one. Another was in a car accident, and has a limp. Those so-called flaws are only a part of them, not who they are. That's what I bring out in the story.

I think that's great, and you're right. It is just a part of them.

DH, could you send me a link to that. I've got a disabled vet story that i could use some current information for. I have the real life experience working as a volunteer at the VA but every little bit helps.
