In early August, I got a statement telling me that I was gonna get $500 back. Great--i was excited. Happy. Looking forward to it.
It did not come.
I figured it was lost in the mail.
Well, it has had more than enough time (was "scheduled" for delivery 6 weeks ago), who do I call to check on this?

Any ideas?

lets see

i got mine back last month and paid some bills off.is there a number and address on the card.if there is write it or call the number.

If I still had the card, I'd have checked it. I don't have any such card anymore and am truly unsure of who to call. Are some people still getting their checks and notices? Can anybody here look and see if there is a number on them? Thanks.

sorry

i throwed mine away.you should get it if you got a card saying you would.

HO HO HO you have to pay it back next year. If you have money coming they (IRS) will subtract it from your refund. If you owe they will add it to your bill. Enjoy your bonus. Suckers

There was a problem with checks being lost. I believe from the PA IRS point of origin. The recipients were primarily New Englanders.

There is an IRS web page that might help. I don't know the addy but, you could try doing a search.

Good Luck

Freaky!

This is wayyyy too freaky.

Just after I posted that last message, I logged off to make a phone call. While chatting, I found the letter with the number on it. It says:
...you will be receiving a check in the amount of $500.00 during the week of 08/06/2001.
It had a number to call with questions (800-829-4477) and the IRS website addy.

Then...
The mailman came and lo-and-behold--the check was IN MY MAILBOX.

No shit.

I am a super happy camper!

(The date on the check is 9-28-2001, btw.)
:) :) :)

The rates were lowered for the lowest bracket in July from 15% to 10%. The rebate reflects the first six months of this year.

Had Al Gore been elected, singles would pay 600 more and married people 1200 more in 2001. And every year after. That is if you earned enough to pay taxes. No one is going to subtract from a refund or add to a bill. We pay lower taxes now. Period. End of Story.

Nogard, are you stupid?

It is a rebate on what has ALREADY BEEN PAID IN THIS YEAR. It is not really a deduction from next years refund since that is just a rebate as well.

People who have not paid in this year did not get anything back-it won't add a dime to my taxes.

Yes, Nogard is stupid.

You should be able to find a contact or a phone number from the IRS website Blondgirl.

Way to Goooooo, Bonde Girl!

Since your karma is just so and the stars are all lined up nicely for you, what will the lottery numbers be for Wednesday night?

:p

I think I should ask my daycare provider what her numbers are since that is where this check will go!!!!!
: )
(I am happy to be paying her--she deserves more than my measley bit!)

You can investigate it on irs.gov.

Isn't it odd?

Look at it. During the election Bush practically said, "Vote for me and I'll give you a cheque"
