If the woman had the abortion, Redick didn't have to necessarily support her monetarily for the next year, he only had to go through the motions of being in a relationship with her for the next year ("shall attempt to establish and maintain a social and/or dating relationship between themselves for a period of one year"), and pay her only if he didn't want to do that anymore?
