Advocates have succeeded in gathering enough signatures to place an abortion amendment up for ratification on the 2024 Florida general election ballot.
Proponents of the measure note that the ballot initiative got the required number of verified signatures in an incredibly short time, and that 15 percent of the signatures came from Republicans (!!!).
Naturally, DeSantis' state attorney general has attempted to torpedo the process, arguing in court that the "language is confusing".
This initiative is seen as backlash to DeSantis political stunt that enacted a law restricting abortion to six weeks after conception, essentially a complete ban because the vast majority of women don't realize they're pregnant by then.
The Law of Unintended Consequences continues to bite conservatives on the ass.
Single issue voters - largely Gen Z women - are expected to turn out in droves.
