A well known, old joke in Massachusetts, is about Christmas in July in New Hampshire. The punch line ? Need snow tires,
and a snow plow- to get to the sale. It is abnormal to get snow in July, unless you live at the top of Mount Washington.

Instances of weather conditions that are so extreme, or so out of place, out of season, that is has become ridiculous and absurd.

What is happening, in your region ?

I will start off, with what happened in my region-
Below freezing temperatures outside of Boston, in the merry month of May. Two nights. Snow flurries.

On Monday I had a pretty hard freeze in my yard and then yesterday we broke the record for high temps, officially 97 in Minneapolis, closer to 102 in the 'burbs.

We also had the oddest ice tsunami on Lake Mille Lacs, the wind was so strong it blew sheets of ice into houses on the side of the lake. It might seem weird that it's never happened before but historically the ice doesn't slide that way, the crazy winds we had forced it that direction.

A late-season snow and unseasonably cold air is headed for Southcentral Alaska and Anchorage.

If snow accumulates this week and into the weekend, Anchorage will set several new seasonal snowfall records... while adding several inches of snow to the higher terrain.

Outdoor enthusiasts and drivers should prepare for late-winter conditions before heading out. Check the video and stay up to date on the latest weather forecast at weather.gov/Anchorage

Hot and humid earlier in the week. In the 90s. In May. Waaay too early for that.

Only a hundred years of record, bound to break records.

It's been amazing weather here in Minnesota. We had hail locally on Sunday too.

Who, from Upper New York and Vermont, is digging through the snow, today ?
Three feet of snow dumped in New York State town.
Vermont ? Some snow on the slopes to extend the skiing season.

The buds on the fruit trees and berry bushes are ready to burst, and along comes-

northern New York.

* Hazards... frost.

plants and vegetation. Bring sensitive plants indoors if possible
... or cover.

the 13th i was cutting grass with a coat on and it was spitting snow. the other day we had a hard freeze. now it's warm again.

In RI the middle of the week was not only hot, but so humid I brought the air conditioners up from the basement and put them in.

The last two nights I have had to run the heat.

Tonight, I will listen to the furnace burn oil. Tomorrow, I will put the AC back on, and get another sunburn. I did not put the snow shovels ect away.

The daffodils are up.
A couple of months early.
They're all munted and small, but they're there.

I am glad that I covered the young plants. There is something in the air, that is more like the end of summer, than the beginning.

My fingers were cold, after I finished. June, is days away.

No, it's perfectly normal.

I mean, we have several dozen satelites in the sky that can now tell us everything. Watch NOVA lately? (Earth From Space.)

But yeah, don't make a big stink about it, eh. You'll be dead before it affects you... directly.

We can just be remebered as the 'Ooops, we missed it' guys. (I wonder if that's the inside joke with the dinosaurs... that God created.)

Mount Mansfield, in Stowe, Vt., had 13.2 inches of snow Sunday, the latest in the season it's ever had a foot.

"A month's worth of rain, in one day."

"Even the old timers cannot remember this ever happening."

"This spring's tornado season got a late start, with unusually cool weather keeping funnel clouds at bay until mid-May."

"The [tornado] season usually starts in March and then ramps up for the next couple of months."

Cat F5 tornado visits on May 20. "top of the scale Cat F5" (Should it have been recorded as Cat F6 ?)

A meteorologist for the local news station KFOR called the tornado “the worst tornado in the history of the world.”

Cat F5 tornado visits nearby on May 31, weather spawns 4 lesser tornadoes on May 31

I date the downfall of our society from the moment the weather itself became politicized.

It used to be the one safe topic. "Hot weather we're having, eh? Looks like June is gonna be a scorcher."

"What are you, one a them global warming fruitcakes??"

It just got very dark in my neck of the woods.

We're suppose to have storms all weekend. So much for lawn mowing.
