a visual arts forum?

Every now and then a thread pops up with visual art. Sometimes erotic, but not always. I think it would be nice, and easier to find, if all of these threads had their own place. What's more, these threads attract new people and some of them are even lured into posting as well.

I'm talking about drawing, painting, digital manipulation and photography.
I don't mean the amateur pics, because they already have their own place.

So, what do you think? Should we ask Laurel?

I think it's a great idea, go for it.....we've seen what the AHer's have to offer, it might be nice to let others show their works.

Hate to be the wet blanket, but there already is such a forum. It's the first sticky at the top of the Author's Hangout page.

Which just goes to prove the point that no one reads the stickies anyhow.

That's not what I had in mind. That is merely one of the threads that would be part of a forum for visuals.

We have a whole load of threads devoted to painting, drawing and whatever.
Some erotic in nature, but not all of them.

Are there enough artists and fans here to keep such a forum rolling? The poets' corner here is what I deem pretty much the mininum of activity and regular members to not lose momentum.

My only concern is would it isololate those who are regs of the AH because they might feel they couldn't share here anymore? Referring to folks like yourself, Rhino, Cealy, and Cantdog. It would be sad to see you all stop posting here. I do notice a great many of Rhino's posts are art related, and I enjoy seeing them pop up here from time to time. Also, I have seen a great many authors and illustrator come together via the AH and create some amazing things.

Now, to make me sound like a complete hypocrite, ask me if I think there ought to be a Politics section.

While the Doc was misinterpreting what was being asked for, his point was still a valid one. Rhinoguy and I have had discussions about how my thread is almost invisible because I asked to have it made into a sticky. I don't think a lot of people really know its there.

I think that if Lit were to promote itself as an erotic arts and literature website, inside of just erotic literature, then perhaps a forum would be warranted. For now though, I'm not so sure.

My reason for finally posting a poll about this, is people don't notice the art threads enough.
Every now and then someone new comes in one of the threads saying they didn't know it existed. That seems such a shame.



Perhaps we would be better off creating our own Montmartre? Inside the AH?

I could really get into a visual art forum. My pin-up thread now includes drawings and painting I found.

It would be great to organize them into different secs without having to search everywhere.

I thought about this some more today. The idea is growing on me. I still believe that there would need to be a better hook on the part of Lit to attract a broad enough audience to make it worth their time and energy.

As it stands right now, each of the art threads on the site has tens of thousands of views but nowhere near that level of participation. Participation is what makes a forum work.

Has anyone asked for Laurel and/or Manu's opinion on this?

I am unconvinced that this is the wrong place. We do okay. There are four threads we keep rolling. The sticky, the Erotic Illustrators, Little Wolf's general Art thread, and BlackSnake's vintage pin up thread for non-Lit art.

Nobody knows? Nobody participates? fooey.

Maybe we need to get the word out more.

but there is an advantage to being in the AH forum. It makes us more available to writers and poets who might need illos.

How about a Visual Art’s Gallery within the AH as a sub-forum? That way it will be more visible and can still have the advantage of being a part of the AH.

I see what you mean. But I still think it would be a good idea to have them threads all together, so that's why I said why not make it a subspace inside the AH.

I haven't asked Laurel yet, because I wanted to find out if their was enough interest in it in the first place.

What's the point in asking if everybody else says: stupid idea.

Okay BT, on Little Wolf's thread you asked for me to post on the AH anthology thread, huh, why? doesnt look like there are any pictures of art type things on there. I think an actual AH thread or what ever you call it would be a good idea so long as we can still post on the other three/four threads we post on now.

If I was to design a database to handle the basic design it would be something like:
