Yes the Cat has a very sick kitty right now. Critter is looking drugged and is very lethargic. She stopped eating her Kibble, only drinking a bit of water now and then. She is weak.

Now we have no idea how old she is, she as after all a wild one we took in.

We took her to the vet who just kind of shrugged while offering to do all sorts of tests on her. (I only allowed the X-Rays an then I reviewed them as well.)

We brought her home. I also did some shopping. I picked up several tins of canned food as well as some ground chicken and vitamins from the local pet food store. She eats the canned food, although slowly. I slowly started adding the ground chicken to the canned food as well as the vitamins. She eats this now.

Critter weighs next to nothing.

The next couple of days will tell the story. If sh survives then she will get better, if she doesn't then I will have lost one of my cats. Somehow I think she will survive.

All you can do is keep her happy and hope, Cat.
I'll hope along with you.

We have one in the same situation, Cat.

As long as he's eating, drinking, not in pain, we'll keep him comfortable.

Yep, that's the idea here. She doesn't seem to be in pain and she is drinking. I just gave her some grilled ground chicken mixed with the vitamins and she seems to be eating that nicely.

Cat

Ski is our little guy - he's 17.

So thin, he's so thin. But scrappy, and noisy. He's taken to sleeping beneath my dresser now, though he comes out to eat. And he still makes his way into the living area to bellow at everyone for attention several times a day.

:)

Cat - bad news.

We had to put Ski to sleep tonight.

He stopped eating, was listless, he was done.

Love that cat.

That's really a shame. I've had to put down a couple of kitties myself, over the years, and it's never easy.

Hang in there, Critter. We're all on your side. :)

I certainly hope it's not part of the whole pet food scare we heard about about a month ago...unfortunately the symptoms sound about right :(

No, he was 17. It was time.

The rest of our cat family is doing just fine.

:rose: So Sorry.

I'm very, very sorry. I lost two of the nicest cats I've ever owned in the last year or so. One I had to put to sleep (she had cancer) and the other died this fall from a stroke. They were both 14 when they died. I miss them both very much and I feel for anyone who's got a very sick kitty.

Many hugs of comfort.

Very good to hear! :)

Seacat, any news?

Left our male cat with the vets this afternoon.

He, Tabby, (a very unoriginal name) hasn't been eating or drinking for a couple of days and just lying around. This morning we booked an appointment at the vets for 3pm so Tabby started drinking and had a small amount of food at 1.30pm.

The vet is not sure what is wrong except that Tabby has a raised temperature and is dehydrated. Tabby will be kept at the vets overnight with a intravenous drip to try to rehydrate him. More news tomorrow.

Tabby was a feral stray who walked in on us. He is of indeterminate age, probably 10 to 12, and of no breeding whatever, just a domestic moggy. We called him Tabby to distinguish him from the other walk-ins, Silver, Morgan and Bruiser. Tabby decided to move in. The others are still infrequent visitors, except Morgan whose home is nearby but Morgan's owners throw him out "for exercise" two or three times a day. Morgan's idea of exercise is to walk the few yards to us, top up on cat food and sleep.

We still have another cat, Henry, who belonged to my eldest daughter until she spilt from her SO and moved into a flat. Henry was an outdoor cat, so was donated to us. We then found that Henry was a Henrietta, now abbreviated to Hetty. Hetty walks by herself, unless we go to the post box or around the block, when Hetty will walk with us like a trained dog.

We will know more about Tabby's future tomorrow afternoon.

Get well, Tabby. You are very appreciated, whether you know it or not. :) :)

Sarahh, so sorry to hear about Ski. Sea Cat, I hope your kitty gets well soon. I hope everyone's kitties get well soon.

I would have thought that a cat who had come up in the wild and then been brought into the house to be tamed would always be on guard when eating, less it be surprised by a (larger) predator or someone who'd want to take over its dinner, but that crazy blue cat we took in, Il Grigio, likes to eat lying down. He'll be lying on his side on the kitchen floor and he'll lean over and take food out of his dish. I have never seen another cat do this.

My latest two blow-ins are up for the unkindest cut of all very soon. I finally got paid for some work I did months ago, so I can afford it now.
Wonder if the Burmese princess (otherwise known as Madame Crankypants) will stop flogging the fur off them when they've joined the castrati?

Sarahh, sorry to hear about Ski. My dear old boy took himself off to die, two days before the deadline I'd set. He was 16 and a half and totally blind (had been for at least 2 years).
Cat, hope there's good news on Critter.
And same for Tabby, Ogg.

Sarahh,

I am so sorry to hear about your loss.

On our end Critter is doing much better. She is once again eating Kibble and singing her songs. She has also taken to curling up beside me in the recliner while I'm online. (To the point of pushing the other cats off the chair.)

Good news about Critter, Cat. I'm glad.

And thank you everyone about Ski. We feel relieved knowing he isn't struggling any longer.
