YES, Fauci actively discouraged wearing masks in the Feb-March timeframe. That was due to the level of scientific knowlege at the time: Regular cloth masks will only limit/mitigate aerosolized viruses.

Back in that timeframe, it was though that the Corona virus was NOT aerosolized, as they are very, very rare (measles and chicken pox are virtually the only aerosolized viruses in today's modern world....virtually everything else was spread by touch).

Two months of intense research later, guess what scientists found? No, seriously, guess? Yup. Corona virus was a unicorn: a new aerosolized virus. There hasn't been a meaningful new one discovered in decades.

Fauci, who adjusts his viewpoint to accomodate scientific findings (the exact opposite of Coronager, AJ and Bobo..but I digress), pivoted 180 degrees and began advocating wearing cloth masks.

force his Evangelical task force doctors to say that the "herd mentallity"
(herd immunity) approach to the coronavirus pandemic, had any valid medical
standing. Sweden attempted to apply it, and the theory proved to be disastrous.
Scott Atlas fed talk radio with doubts about the effectiveness of masks as a
prevention device of the spread of coronavirus, or a personal defense against
becoming infected with Covid-19. Scott Atlas was willing to sell everyone in
the country out, because Trump's dark side has cash, bribes, perks, and a future.
Some people would rather die of Covid-19, than admit that they were wrong.
Trump is using that stubborness to reap piles of cash for his "defense fund,"

I was disappointed to learn that the Faculty Senate of Stanford University on November 19,
2020 adopted a resolution criticizing my work for the United States government. We all
wish to guide our nation through this pandemic with the best advice and knowledge that
we can bring to bear. It is for this reason that I accepted the request of the President of
the United States to serve as an advisor since August of this year. I have been honored
to serve our country during these difficult months for our nation and the world.

I am a health policy scholar, medical scientist and doctor. I have always used science
and factual evidence to help generate the best possible policies to save lives. My views
in favor of the careful protection of our nation’s most vulnerable while safely re-opening
society are far from contrary to science. These views are held by some of the world's
top epidemiologists from Harvard, Oxford, and Stanford itself, as well as by thousands
of medical and public health scientists from around the world. I have also repeatedly
recommended mitigation measures, including social distancing and mask-wearing
when one cannot distance. Media reports to the contrary are simply false.

It should be no surprise that scientists and doctors may disagree over the best response
to the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic. But in responding to COVID-19, we
cannot sacrifice the free exchange of ideas, the essential process to discover the scientific
truths allowing us to fight the disease. America and its universities must allow differing
views without intimidation or rebuke if it hopes to successfully develop responses to
such crises and to solve the public health threats of the future.

Tegnell: Sweden being more targeted in its Covid rules

Sweden's state epidemiologist, Anders Tegnell, says measures to tackle coronavirus in the country are becoming more targeted following the recent spike in cases.

"I think what we are doing is a kind of virtual lockdown. We are really trying to do exactly what many other countries are doing. We are trying to minimise the contacts of people," Mr Tegnell told BBC World News.

"We have learned that we can do that with a combination of legal measures and voluntary measures and that in the Swedish context is the combination that we really believe is the best one," he said.

Cafes and restaurants have remained open in Sweden but new restrictions have been introduced following a spike in coronavirus cases.

All countries were different and it was not yet possible to say which was a right or wrong strategy for tackling Covid-19, explained Mr Tegnell.

Parson outdid himself by continuing to ignore emotional pleas of health officials
in St. Louis and elsewhere in Missouri to join 37 other states by ordering a statewide
mask mandate. Cases of COVID-19 and hospitalizations have exploded in recent
weeks in the state — as in so many others — but Parson refuses to put public health
and welfare ahead of his political philosophy, such that it is.


In the past week, three of Parson’s fellow conservative Republican governors —
in Iowa, North Dakota and Utah, of all places — have, in light of skyrocketing
COVID-19 statistics, completely contradicted their previous refusals to issue
