i Good morning everyone here at the worlds best adult LitErotica site. For starters, as you can see, I am a very new member to this forum, so I apologize beforehand for any mistakes made. If I have posted this in the wrong discussion board, can someone inform me how to move it? I'm posting here to try to receive helpful advice on some questions and concerns I have on the stories I'm currently working on and completed.

1) Where do I post a 'in progress' story for members to help edit and comment on? And sadly, how do I go around posting it so its not a super long unreadable tread?
2) Can someone please refer me to the rules I need to follow on what I can and cannot write in my stories and post?
3) Can any fellow writers or avid readers of the genres: "Mature"; "Wife"; "Incest"; please contact me in a PM with helpful tips they use to write convincing character dialogue? I have not found out how to add dialogue into my stories, which takes away drasticly to the effect I want readers to experience.

I have been reading everyone's stories for so long and desperately want to give back to the community I so love. That also includes donating some funds to this wonderful site you provide. Unfortunately I do not have a credit card, so I do not know how I can. Any help with what I can do would be welcome.

Thank you all in advance for taking your time to help this soon to be award winning writer ;) Lol so I hope!

Hi and welcome!

I have to admit when I saw "up and coming" I thought this was a different type of thread;)

Now for your questions.

1) You are allowed to post a piece of a story in the feedback forum, but only tow or three paragraphs. More is frowned upon.

2) just put some space between each paragraph just like in a word doc.

3) here is a link to what will get your story rejected and some things the site does not like.

As for dialogue? My only tip is before you write, just sit back, close your eyes and relax. See your scene in your mind. Envision the characters and just imagine them speaking.

Convincing is in the readers eyes. I mean convincing in incest is a stretch anyway.

Another good trick I have used is if you have a spouse or s/o or even a friend who knows what you write tell them the premise and try to have the conversation with them and see what they come up with.

Back to feedback.

Once you post a story start a thread about it in the feedback forum and put the link in the post and people will check it out and give you some critique

Good luck

That covers the bare basics, but there are a lot of things that aren't covered there. If you're not writing non-con/reluctance themes, or anything that dances around the edges of underage ( age roleplay and such ) then most of the "unwritten" submission rules don't really apply, and this section spells out the biggies.

To have your story reviewed, go to the editor's forum section and look for the "available editors" thread, or start yoru own thread. There are threads there about what sort of information to provide to potential editors. http://forum.literotica.com/forumdisplay.php?f=9

Dialogue is something that you typically overthink. Make people speak in text as they do in real life. You have to clean it up a little, of course, because there are a lot of pointless "uhm"s and such that just clutter things up. Don't be afraid of contractions, incomplete sentences and such when writing dialogue. That's how people speak, and it comes across naturally when you don't try to transform it into the Queen's English.

You'll also want to remove your Yahoo ID from your post, as emails in posts aren't allowed here. Make sure your PMs are turned on here:

http://forum.literotica.com/profile.php?do=editoptions

( Enable private messaging is what you're looking for. Make sure there's a check in the box )

Then use that as an initial contact point. Once you're in contact with someone off the public boards, you can give them private contact information.

Feel free to expand or ask other specific questions :)

Oh, yeah Dark is right I didn't catch the yahoo addy.

You can put it in your public profile, but not in a post.

Welcome. :)

1) Where do I post a 'in progress' story for members to help edit and comment on? And sadly, how do I go around posting it so its not a super long unreadable tread?

The short answer to this one is that you don't post an entire unedited story in the forums. There is an Editor's Forum, and you can do a few things there. One, post a short excerpt of your story, along the lines 400-500 words, or three or so paragraphs. If you want someone to edit your entire story, you take a different tack.

You can either check the "Available Editors" stick at the top of the Editor's Forum and see if anyone fits your criteria, or you can post asking for an editor. Either way, make sure you specify what you want from the editor (copyediting vs. content editing), what category you're writing in, how long the story is (or will be), and when you'd like the edited version back.

It will still be a bit hit or miss, but it's a start.

2) Can someone please refer me to the rules I need to follow on what I can and cannot write in my stories and post?

Here is Lit's FAQ: http://www.literotica.com/faq/

It is outdated in a few areas but again, a place to start. There are a couple of basic rules in content -- no underage (i.e., under 18) sex and no bestiality.

For the underage sex, this means that no one under 18 can be involved with a graphically-described sexual situation, including watching someone else. You can have a short sentence like "I lost my virginity at sixteen," or "He saw his parents having sex," but no specifics. Yes, I know, this is not how real life is but this site is not about real life, and it's privately-owned and has rules. This is one of them.

Bestiality means pretty much what you think -- no sex with animals -- although there are some Nonhuman stories where a character is in say a hybrid state between wolf and human (or whatever).

A somewhat gray area is non-consent. According to Laurel, who runs the site, rape is not allowed. At some point, the victim has to enjoy the sex, either despite themselves or because it's a role-play or whatever. But a story in which the plot or point is a rape is not allowed. This does not mean you will not find them, because things do slip through the cracks, but generally they are not allowed.

Also, I will say I've read stories that are mysteries or whatever that involve a character being assaulted or raped, but the rape is not described too graphically, it is not the point of the story. So like I said -- gray area.

My first advice is: read. Read stories that you like and see how the authors write their dialogue. Then read some more.

Second: Use contractions. Unless you are writing something that requires people to speak formally, use contractions. People don't say, "I am well, James, how are you?" They say, "I'm fine. You?"

Third, for a start, just think of what you want your characters to say, and write it out. You can always go fix it later, or get another opinion.

And those rules would apply to any category.

Good luck!

"Hey Oliver, did you see the new guy posted some questions about the site here?" asks John.

"I did. He asked about how to put dialog into his story. Did you catch that bit?" asks Oliver.

"Um...yes. That's why I'm talking to you like this. You know how hard it is to get characters to talk to each other. Convincingly?"

"Yep, but sometimes it's just a matter of imagining how the scene would be with you and say your girlfriend. What would you say to your girlfriend Ollie?"

"Well...I would say, 'Dear sweet Carol...'"

"That's my girls name you asshole!" shouts John.

"Your girls name is Carol too?"

"Why, I should..."

Oliver runs off to get away from John's flaying fists.
