Looking back on previous administrations and what I've seen so far of the next one.

While they all have had and will have very serious moments, there has also been a certain camaraderie and elements of fun. Some screwing around, joking, laughing. You sensed that they felt they could trust each other, even if the public didn't.

With Cult45, I saw a sense of fear and distrust in nearly everyone. Much in the way of anger, ranting, raving, pooh flinging. Nobody seemed to be having fun. They all seemed to be looking over their shoulder to see who was running up with the dagger. They knew they had to toe the line or be axed unceremoniously. Nobody felt they could speak openly and honestly, it seemed everything had to be pre-approved. If they did speak out, they were canned.

They didn't want to end up as some monstrosity that needed to wished to the cornfield.

I noticed that too. I think it's because some of them actually were smart enough to understand the real danger Trump was putting the country (and indeed the world) in with his ignorance and selfishness. Saving Trump from himself was a lot of work, and didn't leave any time or any cause for joking.

Because they were all living with a crazy abusive parent.

Indeed. I have read comments that how GOP now reacts to Trump's post election tantrums is psychologically typical for how a battered wife would defend her abuser. While it may or not be accurate or appropriate comparison, it seems fitting.

Stockholm Syndrome comes to mind for how they've acted in recent years.
