As I look back to my younger days when I worked at a movie theater, I recall the first films that made lasting impressions on me because of particular scenes in them.

"The Postman Always Rings Twice," starring Jack Nicholson and Jessica Lange was a watershed for me. When I saw the scene in which the two of them were raking each other over on the middle of that big butcher block with bread and flour flying everywhere as she sneers "Come onnnnnnn!" I melted.

Another memorable scene for me was in "Blue Velvet" when the camera does an extreme close-up of Isabella Rossellini's lips as she says, "Hit me." She looks so beautiful, elegant and depraved.

Any movie scenes made an impact on you?

As a teen, The Hotel New Hampshire' made an impact on me. In one scene Jody Foster's character says something like, 'You can take my body, but you will never take my soul'. The line helped me a lot at that time in my life. :)

The orgasm scene from "Harry met Sally". Meg Ryan did a memorable interpretation and Billy Crystal's face and re-action to it. The older lady saying, "I'll have what she's having," made it one of the best.

It brought tears to my eyes the first time and every time since, was the scene in the third Lord of the Rings, the Return, at the end when Aragorn said to all the Hobbits, "My friends, you shall bow to no one," and the entire attendance kneels to them. After watching the first two, I guess I knew in my heart that it was finally over and I didn't have to watch anymore, either that or I'm just a softy, a sentimental fool at best.

Ah, I remember another one that left me breathless. There is a scene in the film "Malena," starring Monica Bellucci in which she is wearing a school-teacher's outfit. Very elegant, black, well fitted, with glasses. All that gorgeous black hair is pulled back and then she stands and she releases that mane of ebony glory and removes the glassess. The look on her face in that simple schoolteacher's dress leaves me utterly captivated.

I don't remember the title, or anything about the movie, but as soon as I read the question a scene jumped to the forefront of my mind.

It is during prohibition, I suppose, and the star goes to a party or speakeasy. It is an elegant place, and when he enters there is a woman. She is the picture of femininity, with fine, lovely features and little makeup. Her hair is very dark and very short, a pixie-cut maybe?

She was as delicate and beautiful as I'd ever seen before or since, and she wore a man's period tuxedo. That image burned into my brain right then and there, and I've been attracted to short haired women ever since (though I love long hair too).

Because of that movie I had the biggest crush on Janine Turner in Northern Exposure.

Another one that came to me. The courtroom scene from Boondock Saints, when they make themselves known to the public and make their declaration, before saying the family prayer and blowing Bruno's head off.
