I heard on the radio this AM that the middle ground is suspension for the rest of this year and all of next year.

Still, this means he'll be 39 going on 40 in 2015, have not played baseball in 2+ years and still have a hip problem.

Might as well be a lifetime ban.

I think that's what both sides are thinking but that with this deal he still gets paid so it's what he wants. I don't think MLB cares either way as long as he's out. I'm sure the Yankees would rather he get a lifetime so they don't have to pay but it's not gonna happen.

I don't really care about them either way but it's always interesting to see how this stuff shakes out.
Personally I think everyone involved with this level of cheating should forfeit all salary and bonuses but no way would the union allow contracts like that.

The Steinbrenners had just gotten a black eye for running Torre out of town, so to make up for it, they pushed to sign A-Rod to that ridiculous contract.

He came through for at least one more championship in '09 for my boys (even when his '08 year was actually better), so even though he can drop off a cliff for getting paid doing zilch now, he did his work then and that's fine by me!
