A Request for Good Thoughts

Thank you, everyone. Your support means more to me and him than you may know. He's autistic and has been looking for a job for about two years. This is the first offer he's had. I'm really not sure what the job entails, but that's not that important at this point in time. If he succeeds at the job and it works out well for everyone concerned, I'll be happy.

A  for all my friends from the good little witch.

glynndah, all the best to you and your son as he makes this transition. My brother is autistic, so I know how hard it can be. :rose:

Have you had any contact with Easter Seals? They've been marvelous helping my brother. They offer employment services, including help finding and keeping a job. They lined up interviews for him with employers interested in hiring the disabled. My brother's job coach took him to interviews, helped him buy work clothes and worked out a few necessary accommodations with his employer. When he first started, she spent several hours with him at work, making certain he knew how to do the job. She still checks in periodically with both his employer and my parents to make certain everything is going all right.

It's probably all things my parents could have done for him, but I think he likes the independence he gets working with her.

My son starts a new job tomorrow morning. I'd really appreciate any good thoughts, positive vibrations and prayers you could send his way.

Thank you. :rose:

A  from the good little witch.

Positive vibes on thier way lass :)

He has a job coach who's supposed to be doing all those things, but, quite frankly, I haven't seen many results from his efforts. I hadn't thought of contacting Easter Seals, but that's a great idea. If this job doesn't pan out, or even if it does, I certainly will. Thank you.

And a  for the good witch in return.

Good thoughts . . . done! ;)

And good luck to the young man!

I just got an email from my son. He says he messed up a few times, but another employee helped him out. He says he'll do better tomorrow. So, it sounds like a successful foray into the workforce.

And thank you once more for the good thoughts.

Everyone needs some help on the first few days at work. I'm sure he'll do great. :D

A Brief Update

Nick's been working Tuesday through Friday, the late shift, at a factory that makes plastic bags and other things and seems to be doing fine. When I asked him what he was earning, he said "five cents a bag." I have no idea if that's good or not, but it's a job and that's what counts.

Thank you again for the good wishes.

I really hope it works for him since I have a 6 year old granddaughter who is also autistic. Hope for the future is a good thing! :D
