Greetings fellow members of the Authors Hangout and various other travelers to this Den of Inequity.

We are gathered here today to wish a fond farewell to the username dirk2024. Dirk was born three years ago, a simple reader at the time, who cared little for what others might call him. But then he became a writer and he began to care a little. So, in an effort to simplify his various identities, he chose to put Dirk to rest and emerge as ClintonBrooks, as he's known eslewhere.

So, welcome to his wake.

He did leave a note for me to thank the many of you here who have offered your literary advice, humor and emotional support. It was much appreciated!

Feel free to share any fond, or not so fond, rememberances of the simple lout. Grieve if you must, but he would have preferred your joy, your humor...or for some...even your passing indifference.

There's food...somewhere...as I'm not sure where @Erozetta delivered the yummy goods. Booze will be supplied by @NuclearFairy but she hasn't arrived the last time we checked.

The receiving line is over there (points to the bed). Seemed like an appropriate location considering the subject matter around here. Share memories, hug one another (with consent of course) celebrate his short life and please...for his sake...pray to whatever diety you choose, so his new username, ClintonBrooks, can carry on with some measure of happiness and success.

Clinton Brooks

I will say: Dirk will be fondly remembered by me as the person who strong armed me into co-hosting the Tainted Love event, which connected me with many new friends, including him.

I'm pretty sure Dirk already counted you as a friend before the Tainted Love event. That just guaranteed you'd both be sitting next to one another in Hell.

Worth it.

And yeah, we were friends before that, it just really cemented that because you knew I was anxious about the event and you took the lead for me and let me be the backseat driver, which I greatly appreciated.

I mean he...not you, he.

You want me to provide booze? The one person here who doesn't even like the taste of alcohol? You'd probably be better off with practically anyone else. But sure, I'll steal my roommates homemade moonshine and mead for Dirk. I've gotta warn you though, I've no clue of the proof, but she tends to get drunk off one sip of her homemade rootbeer, so I ain't bringing that.

I was counting on that as I figured you'd be less likely to drink it all first.

:)

Aw, I'll miss Dirk but I'm sure Clinton can fill his shoes admirably. One of my first events to join when I joined last Feb was Tainted Love. He and Erozetta were so lovely and welcoming to a newbie šŸ’•

I told him this would happen, the link I have to him in our Tainted Love event is now a dead link.
This is interesting. This link works: https://www.literotica.com/authors/dirk2024, but this link doesn't work: https://www.literotica.com/authors/dirk2024/works/stories, even though that general pattern works for most users. Oddly, though, the link that still works doesn't show the updates he made to it today, showing the new avatar and text about the change. For now, the old version of his author page is just a snapshot from before the change. Maybe it'll go away on its own in a few hours/days?

The broken link is what appears here, but the functional version appears here and here. So, don't worry, anyone looking into Tainted Love has a good chance of finding his Author page. I was lucky enough to use the functional version in my LitCon story guest-starring a couple of his characters.
