Jarheads may not be so nice, yet when it comes to your personal freedom... I'd bet a month's paycheck that you're damned glad that we are and have been here for all of America.

Watch real closely for the old "bait-n-switch" from the dems should Lautenberg and Mondale get elected. Lautenberg's sharp enough to stay the course of office should he desire to do so, yet I think that poor ole Wally is so far gone at this point in life that he'd probably kick-it within his first year should the DNC allow him to enjoy the fruits of election.

More than likely though, I see 2 party pansies that if elected, will make room for DNC replacements that can be held in tow by the likes of Puff Daddy Daschle and Slick Dick Gephardt.

Just my opinion.

Meanwhile, back in S. Dakota...

Investigators have recovered charred pieces of absentee ballot applications from a Flandreau woman suspected of forging voters' names on such forms.

Attorney General Mark Barnett said Becky Red Earth-Villeda apparently tried to burn the original applications but then decided to retrieve them.

Investigators suspect Red Earth-Villeda tried to copy information including signatures onto new applications.

"It gets stranger every day," Barnett said. "She claims they are the legitimate signatures (on the charred paper).

The Flandreau woman told Barnett that she copied the names of the applicants from the real documents in order to comply with instructions from Democratic Party officials. Barnett said the woman was told that she could not turn in ballot applications that had been signed but not filled out correctly.

"Many hundreds of those absentee ballot applications that were turned in by her, in fact were her signature, attempting to trace or duplicate the signature on the original form, which was rejected by the party," he said.

Red-Earth-Villeda was hired as an independent contractor by the state Democratic Party. She was fired after a county auditor alerted party officials that forged signatures were showing up on applications for absentee ballots.

Barnett said last week that authorities had found 15 absentee ballot applications with apparently forged signatures. Those documents were discovered during an investigation of voter irregularities in 25 counties.

Despite the suspicions of authorities, only those 15 have been verified by contacting the person whose name is on the application, Barnett said.

Democratic officials have cooperated with the investigation, Barnett said.

The probe has been laborious because of the sheer volume of election documents in question, he said. Each person whose name is on the application must be contacted by investigators to verify whether it is their signature on the form.

"I have almost 30 agents on this full time, spread out all over South Dakota, going as fast as we can go. We're doing everything we can to sort it out and advise the county auditors," Barnett said. "We're going to be sorting this out for a long time."

No absentee ballots tied to the questionable ballot application forms have been discovered, he stressed.

Investigators interrogated Red Earth-Villeda for several hours on Wednesday. She also released a written statement admitting that she had duplicated signatures but denying wrongdoing.

Kea Warne, state election supervisor, said county auditors are being advised to set aside any absentee ballots that look suspicious.

"If the signatures on the envelopes containing absentee ballots don't match up with the signatures on the applications for those ballots, we're telling auditors to set the ballots aside," she said.

Joyce Hazeltine, secretary of state, said she thinks the election will go smoothly and there will be no problems if questionable absentee ballots are rejected.

"If there's any question, I'm not taking any chances on having a contested election. Let's just not use them," she said.

If absentee ballots are set aside, they would only be considered if any races are within vote margins that allow for recount requests, Warne said.

"The recount board would have the authority to review those uncounted ballots," she said.

Red Earth-Villeda worked in several counties that encompass or border Indian reservations, he said.

"In Buffalo County alone, we probably have 80 or 100 absentee ballot applications that she signed instead of the voter," Barnett said, adding that forgery charges likely would be filed soon in Minnehaha County because that's where the election forms were turned over to the Democratic Party.

*Future Felons of America. :D

That is condoned behavior because it is common knowlege that Democrats do that. They just wait a few years before they start bragging about it. Like Nixon-Kennedy, for example...

You know their constituency is pretty much helpless to vote on their own...

Let us not forget the votes from the grave.

To my way of thinking, ALL absentee ballots in close elections should be matched against the SSA Death records. Had we/they done this for the 2000 election... I'd bet a 1/2 years wages that a majority of those votes in question would have been proven to be fraudulent.

Face it... All partisan rhetoric aside... We desperately need a nationally recognized voter registration database. AlGore proved that in the last Federal election.

The Feds take at will enough of our hard earned dollars to do so.... why don't we just force the issue and make it become a reality?

MAYBE THEN, just maybe........... most of the petty BS bickering will subside and the true legislative culprits will be brought out into the light!

You got it 'teach...

Why not a national voter ID cross referenced in a national database that could take the place of our SSI numbers. Digital fingerprints could authenicate the bearer via print recognition hardware/software at polls. The ID could be used for employment eliminating illegal workers. People would still have the option to vote or not, and the voter ID would minimize census expense the next time. :D

That sounds a little too Orwellian to me. Big brother has way too much information about us "legal" citizens as it is.

YET, everyone legally able to earn a living in the United States must posess a valid Social Security Number. Use that as the basic qualifier when showing up to vote in any election.

IT IS THE DUTY of every and ALL AMERICANS to vote! It was at one time the law of the land that if you did not vote in all elections, you were subjected to a fine. Hmmm, nice thought.

MY VOTE WILL BE COUNTED, will yours!?!?!?!?!

gggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stupid people really piss me off!

New bumper sticker for my car, gas guzzling SUV, and of course, my truck:

Dems is Dumb!

Hey guy, you need to tone it down just a tad for the civilians... ;)

How about dogtags?....

Nah, you're right about big brother, goota be a better way though. I already voted on my absentee ballot, but I hand carry it to the polls. I don't want any "accident" to happen while it's in transit.

CCCP Washington State is having some pretty wild elections, last time Cantwell paid migrant farmworkers to vote for her, she won by a couple of thousand votes, all questionable. A couple of thousand absentee ballots were "lost" and never found from a predominately (R) area.

The future CCCP Oregon State is voting on their version of national healthcare that would jump individual taxes to 18% above what it is now. I planned to move there but if it passes, no way! looks like I'm looking at Montana/Idaho/Wyoming/Nevada or any other "free" state.

:D

My son lives in MO.....

Keeps telling me how great Springfield is for jobs etc.. I have family here that aren't doing so well, and I need to stick close.
Maybe this time next year I'll have an APO NY, and this problem will be solved. It'll be military absentee ballots, so I hope the have some kind of verisign for voting on the net! :D

Springfield/Joplin/Carthage area are great!

Beautiful country, great farmland, so close to the Lakes and other assets of the Ozarks.

Also not to be missed in our neck of the woods is the Grand Lake of the Cherokees in Oklahoma.

Our four-state area is one of the hidden jewels of the United States. Hope it stays that way...

I'd like to do everything via the net, but that has to do with distances out here as much as anything.

Bush was in the area recently talking about the four-state region and all the things, as a Texan, he had in common with it...

In my mind, I could here him saying, "I live in a four-state region too! West Texas, South Texas,..."

:D

My family has provided a son to serve as a US Marine in every conflict this nation has engaged in since the war of 1812...

Yeah... I'm a Marine!

I've lost boot brothers in Beruit...

I've set foot in Grenada...Panama... and... I've set foot in Central America, Japan, and a few spots south of the 38th...

Yeah, I'm a Marine.

My Marine Corps Color is Blue... To show the world that we are true,
My Marine Corps Color is Gold... To show the world that we are bold,
My Marine Corps Color is Green... To show the world that we're lean and mean,

and...

My Marine Corps Color is Red... To show the world the blood we've shed!

Yeah... I've been there, n, done that...

and your point?

His family, to re-steal the OLD joke, can't get along with ANYBODY!

We haven't WON anything until we get some results.

Like repeal of capital gains, marraige, and death taxes to stimulate the economy as well as a lower tax rate to increase governmental revenues.

Take the wrecking ball to the INS and rebuild it from the ground up. Seal the borders, deal with the currnet crop of illegals and finish hunting down the Terrorists.

Make missile defense a top-priority along with Hydrogen Fuel-Cell technology including massive tax-incentives to build refueling stations and reduce our dependence on oil.

And get some judges who can read and apply the constitution, not construe it and make it into a living, breathing, changeable document capable of sustaining ANY legal theory...

Then, America would have WON something. Much short of this and I'd be tempted myself to fire the whole Lott of them in '04 by voting straight third-party in the cycle and giving my contributions to them, too.
