Have any of you tried to use Text to Speech software such as NaturalReader during the editing/revising stage of writing stories? I thought something like this might be a useful tool to hear your story and was considering purchasing something but I thought I'd survey the situation first.

Thoughts, comments and suggestions welcomed.

Yes, I use Text2Go which can automatically sync to my iPod. After using the free trial version for a while, I purchased it with one of the natural voices. The software work great.

Listening to your story read by another does help catch some errors. Proof reading is difficult, tedious, and error prone. I tend to read in groups of words, so sometimes I miss bad grammar and homophones. Listening to the speaker uses a different part of your brain, so you can catch more errors. Not all errors, but more than proof reading alone.

Of course, another set of eyes is always helpful.

Thanks for the response. I suspected it could be quite useful. I think I shall do a little more reserach into the topic and investigate those natural voices. I listened to a view of them on the NaturalReader web page and I am quite impressed with the quality.

Thanks again for the reply.
