This weekend, arguably the largest event on the Australian motor racing calendar is taking place.

The Bathurst 1000.

Over here, it is touted as being "world class" and watched in other countries around the world, but I just wonder how true this is.

Sooooooo has anyone outside of Australia heard of it, or is it just usual media bullshit?

Just curious to know.

I only know of the Formula 1 race that takes place over there once a year. I know nothing about The Bathurst 1000 or never even knew it existed until you told us about it.

Enlighten me here

The Bathurst 1000 is what, an off road event? Maybe a circle track thing? Perhaps a crazed public roads event like the Silver State thing in Nevada? Fill in the blanks!

Bathhurst?

There's a Bathurst in New Brunswick Canada.... It's the only one I've ever heard of.

The Bathurst 1000 is a 3 day endourance race. 160 some laps...

hmmm... god I'm a sports nerd.

To answer your question Ducky, it is televised in the U.S., but finding it isin't easy.
