I'd recommend the original version of The Haunting, directed by Robert Wise and starring Julie Harris. It's a classic horror movie, scary as hell, based on Shirley Jackson's novel "The Haunting of Hill House."

What makes this movie so damned scary is this: you never see the ghost. You're never quite sure if the eerie goings-on are caused by ghosts or if they are figments of the Julie Harris character's disturbed imagination. It never fails to chill me.

Gotta go with Ticklish Girl on this one, The Haunting is a damned creepy flick.

Also worth a look for the same older thriller kinda look: The Godsend. I think its a British one from the 70's. It's based on a short, scary novella of the same name. Creepy in a weird way--think The Good Son or the Omen, but with some odd filming angles and bizarre music as well as less obvious malice.

The Evil Dead II...Groovey!...

It's difficult to see a movie and be scared after seeing Ash...It's coming out for Halloween at a local Revival/Indy Theater!...A friend and I are going...

For Renegade:"Funny Games"(with English subtitles if you don't happen to speak German), this is a truly Scary movie from Austria!!!!!!...

For goddess_euphoria:She doesn't know her Name (STP)...Oh, sorry, wrong Thread...Don't bother with any of those sequels except for Evil Dead II and Season of the Witch...Excorsist III was really eerie (the lady crawling across the ceiling)...

Has anyone ever seen the Sentinel?...

Newbies ****Star: The Cell...
