or any webb building software.

i'm nearly finished with the photos and text for my new webb site and need to know something. how should each page be saved? do i give each one an address such as http://www.orderform.com or do i simply save it as orderform.htm and assume that when i load the site people will be able to navigate it properly.

did i even ask the question properly?:D

I don't have a clue on the subject but I want to check out your web site when you have it up and running!

If I'm understanding what you are asking, yes, you should name each page in your web something different, especially after you load it up to the server, so that you can link the different pages to, say your main page.

Unless I am totally misunderstanding you...

depend if you are doing your webpage with Frontpage and if your provider accept frontpage extension.

but if you are doing it in a "conventional" way meaning in simple HTML, you save each page by the name you want like pictures.html or pictures.htm and you will upload them like this. Once they are on your provider space you will get a addy that look like this http://www.xxxprovideradress.com/pictures.html
but it is not always looking like this, you might have a space too at your name so it would look like http://www.xxxprovideradress.com/unclej/pictures.html

hope I did answer what you wanted to know

i'll let you know marksgirl..

no, pipercat...i know that each page has to be individually named but i don't know what to save them as for them to work properly once loaded.

thanks dejanu, i think that's the answer that i was looking for. someone told me that i would have to give each a complete url before loading them and that just didn't make sense.

i appreciate the help

Save the web pages as .html, save the pictures as .jpg or .png or .gif. The main page should be called index.html

thank you claud...that really helps.

georgia girl, you are more than welcome and that does seem like a proper place for a proper groupie.:D

The main page you save must be called index.htm (which is what frontpage will save as- htm, rather than html), and the rest just need a file name.

Make sure to link them to the file name, not a webaddy (unless it's outside your site), and then, the page will be assigned to the website when it's uploaded.

NEVER save as www., or it will look for that.

Also, if you rename anything, all links have to be redone.

Frontpage does everything relative to the file itself.

Go to html view and tweak your links to reflect the proper address.

I wasn't sure what you were asking, but I offered the answer because I had that problem.

I hate making web pages. I build the roads. What people drive on them (like this lame site) is their business.

thanks again everybody and believe me, after my experience creating mine i have a great new appreciation for those who do them for a living. they're damn sure not like playing a video game.

A while back I suggested this site to Gilly for website help www.outfront.net It has a forum and a great library of articles for website building information. It is geared a bit towards frontpage but they do answer lots of other general website information.

Hope that helps.
