I think there is a time and a place, yes... But if they don’t understand, help them. Help them to see why. Take your mask off slowly so as not to startle. Perhaps they are waiting to understand, and you aren’t giving them the opportunity.

Or just don’t listen to me... I’ve been awake too long and have no idea what I’m talking about anymore.
