can't help you on the where part buddy, but very glad to you stepping outside that comfort zone and giving it a shot! and I'll ask a couple of single friends at work if they have any experience with any of them...

I'd avoid the physical for the most part... ya know, "I"m 6'1", physically fit" blah blah...and I'd avoid asking santa for what you want for Christmas, too... "You should be under 5'4", at least a 36C, preferably blonde" etc... (did I just describe your anti-woman? <grin>)

You get lots of points for creativity, imagination and humor...but don't go too over the top. If you have a hobby or two, put them in, but don't make it a laundry list... people stop reading after a few... and this, btw: "hiking, sports, working out, biking, working out, marathon running, working out" are pretty much code for: I'm skinny and you should be too

Don't brag... but don't be shy... confident is good, arrogant, not so much... but too reticent isn't a good sign either...

Keep it short, but not TOO short... somewhere between vignette and novel

as for where to place one...local sites are always better than national ones of course... long distance relationships can work, but it's better if she's around the corner... internet sites are great (match.com etc.) butreally it's the speciality places that you should focus on. There are personal sites for EVERYTHING out there, sorted by relgious affiliations, profession, hobby, etc. One of my favorite sites is Spiritually Sexy. It may not be up your alley, but it's an example of a "niche" site for personal ads.

match.com is free until you want to reply to a 'wink' or 'hit'. Beware though, I used them for a few months, and despite specifically wanting 'women', was actually contacted by some guys!!! Bizarre.

Yahoo personals is also a good one, but again, as soon as you want to reply to anyone who contacts you, you have to pay, usually a minimum of a 3 monthly fee.

I just did a google search for free internet dating, and there are quite a few, the first one that came up is adultinternetdating.com.

Whatever you decide to do, good luck to you. There's got to be a very lucky woman out there, just waiting for you.

Can't say I'm hopeful. All the profiles I checked, of women near my own age, seem to be pretty certain the man is going to be at least as wealthy as them.

Oh well. Shrugs. Still early days yet. I know I'll have to wait a while. It's doubtful there will be many women I'm highly compatible with.
