The Constitutional protection disallows the Govt from preventing speech or the disemination of said speech.

It does not pertain to private citizens or organizations.

While that may seem like semantics its actually a very important difference that many seem to habitually overlook.

I'm in the UK, and we don't have Freedom of Speech. I really loathe not being able to shout racist insults in the street and making fun of others' beliefs.

In spite of misinformation to the contrary, it is permissable to yell "fire" in a crowded theater.

Provided there is a fire.

but is it ok to yell "movie" in a crowded firehouse?

Your freedom of speech does permit you to yell "fire" in a crowded establishment. What most people miss either by intent or ignorance, is, that same freedom invokes its corollary, responsibility, which you must be ready to bear if you exercise the right. And to do such without due cause is so maliciously irresponsible that you deserve whatever consequences you might suffer.

Personally, I rather hope you are the one trampled in the ensuing panic you needlessly and mindlessly incite.

dude, take a chill pill. no one advocated randomly yelling fire in a crowded theater.

In the UK the only restriction we have on free speech...

is that we're not allowed to insult the Royal Family in a public forum...

Plenty do though so even that restriction has more or less died a natural...
