A Noobs response

Then in a feeble attempt to demonstrate that I am not those nasty, horrible, hurtful(yeah right!) things that have been said about me over the last few days on here, it gives me enormous pleasure to make you happy:-

Ma boite!

Jane's too pretty and sweet and smiley, but I like Michael Jayston's casting.

There are terrible adaptations of this book, I think one of the most disappointing was Orson Wells and Joan Fontaine.

Oh for...*facepalm*

Look, guys, could we please allow descriptions to stand? They're supposed to be unattractive, that's theoretically the charm of the thing. Must I have "hot" injected everywhere?

Oddly enough I finally went and read "Gone With The Wind" and found out that Scarlett also isn't supposed to be beautiful...just 'arresting' with a tiny waist.

That would have been SO MUCH BETTER.

If you click on the post number then you can see the specific post URL to link to, rather than the person having to go hunting.
Also, linking to a page number doesn't take everyone to the same posts since users can change the number of posts displayed on a page.

It...it all just works...

Thanks. You are now officially my first friend on here.

Now all I have to do,is try to build on an early success and try to gain a few more.I suspect one or two of you will be harder to crack, but, hey, what is life without a challenge?

All friendships that begin with fuzzy 1970s videos are strong. STRONG.

They come pre-cracked mostly.

I'm not entirely sure what that last bit means if I am honest, but the first bit was positive so,yeah,I agree entirely!

Play on words regarding cracked meaning crazy, or at least crazed.

Lit is also a good place for international slang.

When any new member joins a forum,it is customary to give the more opinionated ones an 'initiation ceremony'. I had no problem with the one I received when I first posted ,it was right and proper lol. When the 'hard core' members of the forum have done that,it is beholden on said Noobie to respond by seeing which buttons are easiest to press and what the reaction might be. It is the quickest way for the Noobie to get a feel for who the characters are and how the forum works in terms of the dynamics.

The thread about the Halloween hangovers was the 'Trojan Horse',something chosen at random so I could 'complain' about a thread going off-topic. One might question whether it was credible that I cared for even a second about who had a hangover or not,but posters seemed to think that I might,so I guess it 'worked'.

Choosing the thread to follow the Trojan Horse, was easy. A newbie DISCUSSING the moderation of a forum, will always work on pretty much every forum in the world lol.You will note, those who read the thread carefully,I never once criticised the moderation on here, seems to work just fine,in truth, I merely invited members to discuss it as the thread itself will testify :-

So there you have it.A newbie response to an initiation ceremony. I posted every single word with a smile and I hope none of you got too hot under the collar about it. I doubt I offended anybody either,if I inadvertently did, then I apologise.😀

As for the moderation on this forum, truth is it works pretty much spot on from what I have seen so far,and I am sure they rarely get the thanks that they deserve. Must be a thankless task sometimes, tbh. If a toy ain't broken don't fix it,particularly if it is about to be used in a sexual act,of course.

So there you have it, the end of a Noobs response to their initiation. Hopefully one or two will read back on the two threads with a smile, armed with that new knowledge. At this point it is common for a bit of abuse to be thrown back from those who still haven't 'got it', you are of course entitled to do so,but it is water off a ducks back lol.

Hope to hang around these parts for a while yet,now my Noobie response is over. Look forward to interacting with you all.

All I know Sir, is that you did yourself NO good service that day!

No problem with your opinion, though I don't share it.

In my very first interactions on here I was called a "cunt" by someone who had never even 'spoken' to me until that day.Where I come from, that is a very strong word when used as an offensive phrase. If that was to be the hazing I was to face then I was well within my rights to play a few little tricks on the process, given the real life alternative which would be to kick the little fucker into November 10th is not exactly easy through the screen of an iPad😉

My kingdom, my kingdom for a space key!

I'm the grammar NAZI...

Wait, what's the singular for that? There is an I in NAZI...

NAZME?

Constantly. People wander in here with a big, goofy grin and a "Howdy neighbor" and are horrified at the hatred that is immediately heaped upon them.
Not sure if Colonel's words are serious or more tongue-in-cheek. Nevertheless, I'm grabbing this opportunity:

I'm well aware that I'm not the best example in all this. And yes, I do cringe, too, when I remember some of my previous posts and attitudes.

But I do not enjoy watching these so-called "initiation rituals" that we, older members tend to subject the "newbees" to. And if, God forbid, the "newbee" reacts, defensively, in kind, we then do the reverse psychology thing in which the newbee is portrayed as the aggressor, and we intensify our attacks.

And even if newcomers make the occasional gaffe, whatever that might be, wouldn't it be better if we cut them some slack just until they learned the ropes?
